Is anyone familiar with this car? Does the Tom Meade re-body diminish its value? http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-250PF-02393
Not only is it ugly, particularly the rear, the interior got "customized" too. The value is substantially diminished. That's why it's listed for only 139,500 Euros or best offer Having said that, look at this thread and the beautiful body Meade created here. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16451
Just a small bit of trivia. The link above has a link to the cars history which is described as thus: 250 Pininfarina Cabriolet series II. S/n 2393 GT. One of seven 250 Pininfarina Series II Cabriolets modified by Tom Meade in Italy in the midlate 1960s. All fitted with covered headlights. 250 Cabriolet s/n 2393 is fitted with a nose similar to the later 330 GTC/S and a tail treatment similar to the Princess de Rethy 330 GTC speciale. The seven 250 PF Cabriolets with covered headlights are s/n 1727; s/n 1761; s/n 1941; s/n 1961; s/n 2041; s/n 2393 and s/n 3085. Per original PF records: PF job number: 29914. Originally grigio conchiglia, MM 16249, vinyl and leather, rosso, 3171. Well documented ownership history. A userfriendly driver. The only small problem with Tom Meade modifying all seven cars is that at least five of them were delivered to their owners before he showed up in Modena. Three of the cars (s/n1941, s/n1961 and s/n2041) were shipped to the U.S. on or before October 1960 and they arrived with the headlights already altered. I guess Pinnafarina either did the work themselves or subcontracted the job with someone else in the area. While there is no doubt that he worked on s/n 2393 I wonder if the alterations weren't done some time after the car was finished by PF. Kram
Thanks for all your input. It's very valuable to me. Next question: does anyone know of any 250 Cabs for sale, other than the two in the FML?
