Outlook Email Problem: What to do?

    My laptop just started to do this (It did not before) while my desktop has always had this problem:

    In Outlook on email, I click reply, forward or reply to all and the email closes out and I am back at the main screen. To reply to any emails, I have to cut & paste and resend in a new email window.

    Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

    What version of Outlook. Is it Outlook Express or a full version of Outlook?

    Long shot if its not version/service pack related, but check to see what format your sending e-mails in. If you receive HTML formatted messages and the mark comments with field is set to blank (default value is the word template) and try to reply or forward to them, Outlook can crash the way you describe.

    2000 & up has a "detect & repair" option under the help menu.

    If this is Outlook Express 6, a corrupt address book could cause the problem. Try searching for .wab files in your profile on your hard drive (its probably under c:\documents and settings and then your login name). Copy it somewhere safe like the root of your c: drive or your desktop, delete it from your profile and then reopen Outlook Express to create a new one. You can import your contacts from the backup you copied.
