how loose should idle jets be in their holders? I pulled all of mine out and two were not snug at all in their holders...infact,they fall right out of their holders. Purchased new jets and holders and they are no better. I am a little affraid to bend them or anything to make them fit tighter. BDW, what is the effect of loose jets? Airleak?

You can generally open the tangs of the jet to make them a snug fit in the holder. I do not believe you'll end up with an air(or fuel) leak - this would only be the case where the holder was not tight/"O" rings were leaking.

    Paul,

When I bought new idle jets, most were too tight, two were a bit loose. I carefully squeezed the split portion a bit with the trusty leatherman pliers and they fit fine. Brass is a relatively ductile material.
With loose jets, i used a knife blade to carefully wedge open the loose sides.

I suspect that the tapered face of the idle jet likely is seated in to the tapered body of the carb by the jet holder. It would be a real drag to have a loose jet fall out and disappear.
