Out of curiousity what does it cost just in parts and machining for a typical V12 or Flat 12 rebuild?

I know on the V8s you can do it for about $5k including new JE pistons, are 12 parts that much more expensive or are proportunate in costs.

I remember reading that the basic "door rate" started at something like $15K.........just for the bits and machine work...............$25K total. IIRC from one of Sheehan's articles.

We are in the process of rebuilding an old 275GTB - 6 carb - 2 cam engine that was pretty much wrecked.

It will need virtually everything replaced, major parts include: - pistons, liners, valves, vale guides, valve seats, all bearings, clutch, crankshaft regrind, cylinder head resurface and boring the new liners. The estimated cost for parts will be in the reigon of $20k

Newer 12 cylinder cars can usually be repaired a bit cheaper than the "old classics" depending on the availability of parts and where you purchase them.
