I'll avoid the obvious puns here and just say that my '78 GTS has carbs and cats. I thought all the cars from '78 on had cats. My car has the rear valence or "diaper", but with it removed you can see the nice Tubi exhaust that the P.O. installed. However, when I'm done with my winter work, I suspect I'll put the valence and skid pan back on and hide the exhaust.

I've got an '81 2-valve US spec car --- my rear valence has been banged up since I got the car, so I've always kept my eyes open for a replacement part. Apparantly, this part (OEM) is vitually unobtainium --- I've only come across 2 that were in good condition over the last 10 years, and they wanted huge $$$ for them. I would suggest having something fabricated to your preferences --- it will be cheaper and probably look better. And, the other posts are correct --- if you use a factory cover, it will limit your exhaust system configurations --- you don't have to put on cats (I am running an open-flow, twin can, Borla system without cats on my car), but you will be forced to use a geometry very similar to the OEM system for a US spec car. This means you'll be stuck with one of the lousy options on the market for these cars --- keep you're Euro setup, better exhaust options for those cars.

Old thread! I was referring to Euro spec cars with my earlier statement of catalytic convertors........US was fitted in 1978..... The stagger slot cover for the early 76- 79 cars is about $475 new, and hard to find........ask me how I know! LOL!
KENT ---- I test drove your car several years ago when it was for sale at the time and I was living in Portland. And, yes I was very impressed by its performance --- blew the doors of most 328's I had tested --- they were having a "good day" at the factory when that car was built!!! I didn't end up buying it, obviously... not because of the car, but because the owner selling it was a raving ******... In hindsight, I wish I had bought it --- the asking price was great --- around $23K as I recall --- would have been a steal! And yes, the guys at RTGT would certainly know, and their opinion of any F-car can be taken as gold to the bank! I sure miss those guys and their service department --- they helped me out a great deal when I first got my car --- lot's of free advice and favors. In my opinion, they are the best Ferrari dealership in the US. Your car is in very good hands with them...
Its good to know a little about the car,im curious who the seller was when you test drove it? I bought it out of Beverly Hills from a guy that seems to have had a few unhappy buyers, but I am pleased with the car.I certainly didnt get it for 23k though,that would have been a real steal.The car was neglected so I had plenty of service work done and now everything is in top condition thanks to RTGT.
