Okay, not so much friend as aquaintance. But in the short visits I had with him, he made me feel like an old friend. I met him upon his trip to Dallas Texas for the Ferrari Club of America annual meet in 2001.

I would like to mail a letter to Signore Sergio Scaglietti, to tell him what a pleasure it was meeting him a few years ago, and how much I have come to appreciate his beautiful craftsmanship because I began to study the history of his designs, and the history of Ferrari, in direct result of our chance meeting.

Does anyone know if he is still in good health? I know that he is long retired, but that his son is still involved with Ferrari SpA somehow, but I would like to be fairly certain that either he or a member of his family reads it.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I am afraid of getting lost in the shuffle, actually. I would hate for the letter to sit at the bottom of a mail bag... If anyone does come up with a reliable lead, please PM me.

I really appreciate all your help.

    David,
no luck up to now. I will try a different path bu I fear that Mr. Scaglietti is defending his privacy quite well...
    Sorry

I am very glad to hear that :) It's funny, after I met him, I had a heck of a time finding out anything about his work and history with Ferrari... then by chance, they named a car after him! But theres still not a wealth of info about the man out there, but I know that he's someone special.

Can anyone confirm to me that his son works for Ferrari SpA? I would imagine that if his son recieved a correspondance for his father, that he would be likely to forward it to him.

I just thought I'd thank everyone for their suggestions... I ran into someone in Dallas today who has corresponded with Mr. Scaglietti personally since his visit to Texas and this person is going to forward my letter to him!

I'll be sure to let everyone know if I get a response! :D

Glad to see you made it. Really it seemed very difficult to find the proper references even from Italy...
