Does anyone have a procedure for rebuilding the standard 308 carburettors, and a list/ location of where I can buy the rebuild kits?/ pricing

Any recommended substances for bringing the exterior surface back to near concours condition - what should I soak them in - mine have 25 years of gunk to be removed and are a lovely off brown colour!

A search in the old archives (accessible through the Search pulldown) will reveal much discussion on this topic. It's also been discussed in the new forums. Search is your friend.
You can use a $16 can of carb dip from your parts store, or you can have them ultrasonically cleaned for $100.
You must get your rebuild kit from Dennis McCann, allferrariparts.com. He's got it for $35 which can't be touched. Matter of fact, that's just about what my lawnmower shop wanted for a carb kit for a Tecumseh 8hp!

Sorry to disrupt your thread Tom. I've just finished installing new e-tubes (F24) and idles (60) and sync'ing the carbs. Ain't it great to take a gasoline "bath" when the Weber's start spitting back with avengence!

Urgh! Off to the shower. Good luck with your project.

Oh, and don't go near carburettor dip. Have someone do it for you. I am told the current stuff "not for sale in California" etc is meek and mild in comparison with the solution of old(e), but still wouldn't go near it. BTW, NAPA sells it by the gallon.

I used Berryman's carb dip and maybe it wasn't as good as old days, because I expected it to strip my carbs down to nothing, but I actually sprayed mine down with carb cleaner when I pulled them out of the dip and got pretty nice looking. A litle personalized attention to a few tough spots would have gotten them really great, but I'm quite content.

use genuine weber rebuild kits, do not substitute with aftermarket. i have compared the 2, and the weber kits are superior in gasket and washer fit.
