    You're right, they were probably just shot or slaughtered point blank. My point is that there are many atrocities throughout history that may not have as high a profile and that are just as tragic. Depending on your cultural background certain "dark" events may hit home a little more.

    Not to defend the Nazi torture of innocent people in any way, but...

    The supposed reason for these experiments was to investigate how long pilots who were shot down in frigid water could live, and how to revive them from severe hypothermia. Actually several of the techniques that were learned from these experiments are used today when someone is pulled from the ice after several minutes, or a when a toddler slips outside on a winter night and is found a half-hour later frozen stiff. Obviously that doesn't justify what they did, but it was one of the rare times when their twisted "science" actually produced something useful.

    A toddler slipping over is not an example of stupid, idiotic, no intelligence behaviour ... it is still learning to walk.

    The person who is at fault here is the parent(s) ... but the Darwinism award is for killing your stupid self, not somebody else.

    Reading all of this makes me fell very ill & cold. My grandfather left Germany back during WWI. He knew the battle of the new German government would be disastrous, the country was broke so he left with ambitions of being a farmer. My father spoke of what life was like for immigrate Germans during WWII, they left Texas & lived in Mexico for a while. My father, his bothers & sister were sent to a private boarding in Guatemala, they would not speak of their German heritage to anyone during the war.

    He has a point. He said useful, not worth it or acceptable.
    More useful than blind slaughtering in Congo or elsewhere, that can't be denied. It's perhaps even sicker than "simple" genocide, though.

    There are some people out there (idiots of course), who don't believe the Holocaust ever occurred. Or if it did, that the numbers have been greatly exaggerated. Many think it is one of the other 'Jewish conspiracies.'

    There are other ways to obtain almost the same results. The Holocaust was not "simple" genocide. - That is too general a comment.

    Some of the experiements may have tought the scientists something useful, but that doesnt make them right. There were alot of experiments where doctors injected the eyes of children with all types of chemicals to see if their eyes could be turned blue but as far as i know the effect tended to be blindness or death. A lot of sterilization experiments were conducted too. I think i remember hearing the tour guide say that of the 700 children that made it to Auschwitz (ie. passed selection) only like 7 of them survived.

    They certainly did a good job of coming up with 700 kilos of 60 year old human hair and placing it at Birkenau when it was liberated.

    This is what I love about F-chat. You have to qualify every statement that you make, and you still get at least one overbearing, pompus, jerkoff that needs to work on HIS hangups first. No anti-semitic statements were either intended or implied. Read it again big boy.

    Did I not say "supposed reason"? Of course they were sadistic animals, and even if they had discovered a cure for cancer, diabetes, and alzheimer's from these experiments, they would never be justified...ever.

    Did you know that physicians learned much about treating radiation burns and radiation sickness from treating the citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? I don't want to get off the subject at hand, but rather make a point. If there was any positive thing from the horror of WWII, it was the medical knowledge used to save future generations.

    FOR THE RECORD: What they did was terrible. They will burn in hell for eternity. I was not trying to be cute, only add a small tidbit of information from Mr. G's comment.

    I spent a month in poland over the summer. I never did get down to krakow near where it is. I plan to go back next year so I'll probably do all that on my way to prague. Tim I recommend trying the Warka Strong beer from poland. I miss it quite a bit.

    Lil misunderstanding here. I meant the Holocaust is sicker (in that experiment way) than your typical genocide (like in Congo or any other place where people just get killed for some BS reason).
    There was this Nazi song singing along "Jews are like Rats, you have to get rid of the vermin" or something similar. These guys were just ****in crazy!
    As far as results go, I'll take your word on that ... but remember we're in the 30s. I dunno.

    As far as the Holocaust being fake, it's incredible some actually believe that. But I do believe in media "over-sensitivity" when it comes to anti-semitism and stuff like that... not that I really care anyawys! My mom's a nurse and she had a patient who suffered from severe stomach ache (that's in the 80s!), and after opening him up, he had some plastic bag instead of an actual stomach!! When he woke up, he then went on saying how he had been in camps ... etc ... etc. Crazy. If these aren't sick facts, I dunno what is.

    NOTHING useful came from WWII, hitler, nazis, genocide or anything else associated therein... i'm quite confident that, had the torture and extermination of over 6 million people during WWII never taken place, science would've still figured those things out... The lives of few are not worth the lives of many; nor vice versa...

    Let's get this straight.

    I posted a small bit of information concerning the Nazi torture of Jews, AFTER making sure to say that my comments were not intended to defend their atrocious behavior. A frequent poster (darth550) then accuses me of making anti-semitic comments. That was uncalled for and inappropriate.

    I have in the past "popped off" to a total of three posters in the last 18 months that I can recall, including this one. All of them either made comments directly to me, or in one case posted something so completely offensive to me I had to post a response, but qualified it by giving him the benefit of the doubt in my original response. As you know, sometimes the words you write can be interpreted very differently from the way you intended, and I stated that that could have been the possiblity in his post. That was certainly the case in this particular thread.

    It is irrelavent how many thousand posts you have, or the model of Ferrari you own or have owned, or whether you are a "very respected member of this board", when you are accusing someone of making anti-semitic remarks.

    Finally, what wouldn't be pretty about meeting darth or you in an alley? That wouldn't be an implied threat of personal violence would it? darth550 calls me a PUTZ, you threaten me, and I am the one showing a high level of verbal ignorance?

    You're right, that deserves some extra explanation ... this is a very sensitive subject, and internet messages can lead to misiunderstandings ... especially since you cut off half my sentence!!! LOL. Let me rewrite it (ok, I admit, copy/paste!) because it does change the meaning a lot...

    uh ... well ... actually, that was written a bit like crap, the "not really caring" part refers to the over-sensitive subjects presented in the media where all info is biased ... just zap channels to find out who's right! Like the elections. Fox : Bush won the debate! Other channel : Kerry won the debate! LOL

    Maybe I'm mis-interpreting anti-semitism (which I could be, since, as admitted I do not pay much attention ... I just consider it racism towards jews and jewish religion as a whole), but indeed I am quite "bah", simply because I believe IMHO that there isn't any racism worse than the other. What I mean is that I'm not more disgusted by the "jewish school library - criminal fire" that we hear about on the news than by "some random black guy arrested for a crime because he looks good as a guilty" that goes totally unnoticed. See my point? I'm not sure I was able to make it any clearer!!LMAO!!
    I think I'm a very open and tolerant person, and when I disagree with something, I just discard it (I do give it some thought, sometimes), hence the "bah" attitude. Now keep in mind this is towards minor and personal events. If it becomes a general feeling, now it becomes a concern that I want to stay very far from. You see, I'm someone who decided(realized?) I wouldn't stop the world from spinning, so I let everyone live their life, and move away if I feel my global community doesn't match my values. That's why I like it over in Canada, and why I was glad not to be in France a couple years back when Le Pen went to 2nd round of the elections. Buncha fokkers.
    I guess it's just this "relax" attitude in me that tells me that if someone genuinely hates jews, or arabs (very trendy, right now ... LOL), they are the same worthless POS concentrate to me, and their opinion is as insignificant as Saharian tribesmen telling me how to make snowmen. And when people complain about it, I just wanna say "Get over it ... don't you know who's right?".
    Of course, all this is very easy for me to say since I'm a white guy with no particular religion ... so I'm a tough target for racists!! LOL

    Everybody should be ashamed of what the Nazi's did in WW2 whatever religion of belief system they have. Thus if you do not find it upsetting and deeply regretable then you must support the murder of millions of completely innocent people (including little children that had only just started out in life :().

    That is what Bruce is talking about ... you should care about this.
