Does anyone knows what the fuzzy/hairy thing on the left side below the tail lights could be? You can see it better on a high res pics then on those I posted here. To me it looks like the head of one of those microphones they use in windy conditions. But I'm not sure what it is.
No, it's the very rare optional tail light duster. At the flick of a switch it swings up and dusts the lenses off. Looks like a microphone to me too. I'd love to hear the music it's recording!!!
Sharp eye. I would agree that it's a microphone, there to catch the might F430 rumble, which in turn can be used in those lovely featurettes that Ferrari produces.
I'm no audio expert, but wouldn't they place the mic equidistant from both tailpipes for better sound quality?
I second that. If you had it in between you'd get too much wind noise and wouldn't hear the exhaust. I'm sure wind tunnel results suggest this to be the optimal place for max F430 ear ripping sound.
would they not mic both sides and run the feed in together? this way you get a 4cyl engine sound or a delayed sound from the other side if the mic pics it up. or maybe that is no mic at all and just a piece of tape to distract you from the ugly rear end of this thing. That middle vent section makes the car look squished and tall and not low and wide.
I read on another forum that there was a tv crew there to film the car. So it probably is a mic. There is a video of a dark gray F430 up on Jabba's world that was captured from french tv. I think it's the same one. You have to have special access to view it though.
