    I've got the engine out now, but have you ever had that feeling in your stomach when you think you might've bitten-off a little bit more than you should have ?

    On the other hand, I'm glad I've pulled the engine because the previous people who worked on the car were a bit shoddy, bolts missing, wires trapped, tubes kinked. Not good.

    The cam belts were done last February, but the workmanship was not good.

    This is knocking my confidence in a full Ferrari Specialist Service History !

    If i get the feeling id bitten more off than i should have id be out of a job,
    RF nice to see you having a go and saving £££,its not a difficult motor to remove there are some out there that are a pain,take ye time and dont rush it and change as much water and fuel hose while you are there as you can,
    dial all the cams in too and enjoy looking forword to seeing the pic's,

    Dale, thanks for the moral support. You're right -- got to keep my cool. My plan is to get all the work done by mid-Jan so I've got to keep reminding myself to relax and enjoy my hobby ! Thanks, and get yourself ready for a few PM's with technical questions...

    ATA BOY RF!!!!!!!! Hey I had the same feeling when I first pulled the engine out of my 348. Wait until you are holding a cam shaft in your hand. Now that is a really weird. Just take your time, and double check your triple check. You are in it this far, so you may as well just finish the job. It only looks scary because it is all new to you. Once you are finished, and look back you'll see that it wasn't that big of a deal. Great job, keep it up. Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to pull it?

    Oh yeah a little tip. When you take off a nut or bolt put it right back from were it came. This way you don't lose it, and remember were it goes.

    Thanks for the tip Ernie. The positive comments are reassuring and motivating. You guys are great. I've got a lot of experience working on cars and I have a Degree in Automotive & Mechanical Engineering, but I still feel slightly "unsettled". Can't put my finger on why !

    Total removal took about 11 hours. I think I could knock 3 or 4 hours off that second-time-around. That doesn't include the trip to a local A/C specialist who sucked out the freon.

    Great Job. Please write up a procedure for us. The clutch write up was awesome. It would greatly help some of us. I know it is a lot of work but if you could I would appreciate it.

    I knew it was only a matter of time befor some one on here pulled the engine with the mind to document it. Take it easy dude, the future of 355 home maintenance lays in your garage/hands.......no pressure then mate, no pressure at all.LOL!

    It's the name. Ooooooooh spooooooky......... you just pulled a "Ferrari" engine. Hahahaaaa. You'll get over it. I actually found that Ferrari really did their homework when it came to the engine. To bad that didn't filter over to wiring. LOL. Yeah it does take a bit of work to get it out, but wait until you put it back in. You will feel like there is no room in the engine bay after you got used to having all the room you need when it was out.

    Good for you! Save the money and learn something while doing this job. Even if you have to get a mechanic to help you at home, the experience is priceless! You go boy!
