Need help purchasing a Testarossa in LI

I WISH that my 355 cost to maintain what my TR costs me! I've sunk over $36k into the 355 in 4 years and 11k miles and I baby the thing, but I've spent around $20k on the TR at 5 years and 25k miles and I beat the snot out of it.

The TR is a fantastic car, but it can cost a lot of money to fix - well worth it if you know what you're getting into though. Many Ferraris are great, but another idea for a modern day Fcar that is VERY good for the money right now imight be a 348. Its got all the power of the best 308, Mondial or 328, looks fairly modern, and costs less than $60k in excellent condition for any of the models, TB, TS or Spider.

Hey Lamarossa, if the TR checks out, buy it! BUT, check it out first or it'll cost you big money to repair...

Thanks again for the route planning home. the best part was when Jeff and Brian the cop blew by at 160 as we were all queuing to make a right...

 

No problem..... I guess Jeff turned around and came back? I told Karen when we were driving that as soon as we hit the new pavement on that section of 51 that you guys were going to take off; it was too tempting.

 

hardly missed a beat. turned around, cranked it up again, and rejoined the group pretty quickly. missing the turnoff was definitely worth it in order to do that straight stretch the way it was meant to be. But if I hadn't looked back in the mirror when I did, I might still be driving around out there somewhere. Thanks for the route planning, Ed - great roads!

 

The best part was when you got to Brad's:

I'm standing in Brad's driveway and Jeff parks across the street.

He gets out of the car, walks to the front end. Pushes down on the hood. Looks into the front intake.

He scratches his head.

Then, he walks over to the drivers side, reaches in and pops the lever. Goes back to the front and opens the hood. Runs his hand along the front edge and examines the latch and the pin switch. Closes the hood and walks over.

With a very perplexed look on his face, he says, "At about 160, the warning light that says the hood is open came on. I need to get that fixed".

Funniest thing all day.

 

Thanks for reminding me of that (I keep forgetting)! I'm breaking out into hysterical laughter right now just thinking about how that must have looked to a casual observer. By that point I was so distracted by the fuel gauge reading completely empty, and trying to figure out if my parking brake still worked after hitting 100 out front of the winery before noticing it was still pulled all the way on... ah, what a day!

 

Well since you guys (Emil!) hijacked the thread, I'll hiijack it back in the general direction of the original topic.

I was doing some hunting through my pics and found a bunch of the beast itself -- the Lamarossa in the flesh!

All the more reason you need Bruce's TR dude...

I look at these pictures and I have so many conflicted thoughts:

- Ferrari needs to send him a "cease and desist" letter immediately or hire him to design for them.

- Wow, it's so great that he can express himself so publicly with such confused passion.

- I cannot wait until he gets his TR and we can ceremoniously destroy this abortion of a Toyota.

- You know, it's really not that bad -- if the kid were a poor redneck living along the Appalchian trail!

- How do you protect against termite and water damage if you drive in a rain storm?

- I could get this guy into Pasadena Arts Center -- but do I want to encourage him to design MORE cars?

- If I ever did something like this, I think that the state would move in and have me committed

- I should send this, with blue prints, to a friend I know at Home Depot corporate HQ

- Maybe I should turn Fishbulb into a Toyota Supra that I will call the "Suprensing Type E"

I guess reaction is what makes it good art?

 

Not gonna comment on the car, but DAMN, that must have taken crazy amounts of time to do. A couple of the mods actually look cool, with much attention paid to detail, but the whole ensemble... well...
