Mondial Outer Door handle

OK I am about to give up...The spring on my door handle broke (85 Mondial)and I tried and tried to reman a spring for the handle, I even used a spring off my $60 pair of pliers, but the door is so sensitive that it only works once in awhile. I have had the handle on and off 3 times and every time it works and after I put it back together and drive it, it doesn't work right.

A. Does anyone make a spring for this? It looks like a chromed spring form a clothes pin

B. If not, does anyone know where I might get a new one?

I have included the following link for an Alfa door handle for $128 versus $471 from Ferrari of OC. They also sell the Door handle gasket. The alfa's chrome, but I am sure I can swap the brushed aluminum handle.

just found a couple of sets of Alfa and Fiat salvage door handles on ebay for a few bucks, will try to get a spring of one of those handles.
