I picked up my 86 328 GTS yesterday and drove it from Panama City Beach to my home in Mississippi.

I've test driven Ferraris before, but actually driving 350 miles was a unique experience. The car drove great, but really came alive once I was off the four-lane and on the backroads to my house. The car just handled so predictibly, like it was on rails.

I only had two minor problems. First was when I ran into a one-mile line of cars waiting to cross the I-10 bridge in Pensacola. I knew the clutch was stiff, but after 45 minutes of stop & go driving my leg was numb. The car took it in stride and the temps never climed above 90 on the water and 100 on the oil. Second was when the car didn't want to start after we stopped to eat. It finally hit, but it had me quite worried. I think I was letting off the starter too quickly after I heard a cylinder fire and the car was getting slightly flooded.

Thanks to CraigFL who I bought the car from. He was great to deal with and obviously took excellent care of the car during the four years he had it. I look forward to caring for and enjoying it for a number of years myself.

On my way to Huntsville on Friday afternoon, I got caught in a puzzling traffic jam in Fort Payne, AL (not exactly a bustling metropolis) that saw me take 15 minutes to go 1/2 mile. The car behaved just fine and all the gauges stayed in the normal range. The rest of my trip was a breeze! (Mine is also an '86 GTS.)

Welcome to the 328 family. Hopefully you can make it to Huntsville next year for one of the FCA's Saturday morning fun drives.

Congratulations as well. I had a 87 328 for 2 years. Drove it all the time. I even drove it to Montreal (from Boston) for the Grand Prix. Don't worry about it, the car is bulletproof. Drive, drive, drive!

Congrats on the purchase...I used to live in Destin and moved up here to Birmingham, so not far. I bought a 91 348 about a month ago and have put 1500 miles on it...i love it, i love it, i love it....everyone raves about the 328's. I think they look awesome, one of the best ever!..Its one of the cars I have on my want list, the other is an Enzo.
But i do absolutely love the 348..too bad its raining today..no drive for me.
