    Hi guys,

Every week I eagerly await the pics from CC, and admire from a distance what has to be the greatest informal car show on the planet.

What I don't understand is how/why that location became what it is.

Did this start as a single-club event? How long has it been around?

    Thanks

That's a good question. Apparently there's a heavy set guy who put together this year's Corona Del Mar, Coastline Car Classic,

and who was one of the guys that first encouraged a group to start going to Crystal Cove. He(I'll have to get his name) has done a lot behind the scenes to work with the Irvine Company(huge developer) to keep the show going there. They tried to force it out on several occasions because of resident complaints. While attendance has been good lately it was getting out of control a while back and that's when they brought in security guards and limited entrance to the show area to before 7:00 AM. Things have loosened a bit lately so the show is more like it was when it started. I've seen a lot of car gatherings and Crystal Cove always brings a new surprise weekly, that you'd find hard to see anywhere else. :)

Some car guys spotted some chucklehead with a skunk hat in the parking lot standing next to an F-40 with some Starbucks in hand.

    Rest is history...

Yeah, I've seen that same chucklehead running around the event too ... I wonder if he has a name?

Do ya think he even owns that F40? The nerve of that guy!

Ironically once skunk boy stopped coming with his car, CC went downhill.

Now we have 50% cool cars, and 50% everything else (run of the mill Mini's, mustangs, etc. i.e. non-rare, mass produced cars). Now we have security guards. Now the lot doesn't even fill up at the beginning (takes about 20 minutes now).
