    Does the Sport mode just allow for the traction control to cut in later or does it also change some of the other aspects of the car? The manual just mentions when it should be used rather than what it actually does.

    It also firms the suspension and in an F1 car it makes the gear changes more rapid.

    It also alters the rev limiter -- it becomes a "soft" vs "hard" limiter in sport mode.

    Could you explain this further please - does this mean that you can overrev the engine in sport mode?

    Please note that my cat is manual, not F1.

    Izza,

    I must try to feel the difference the next time I am out. I recently had an M3 andthe Sport button completely change dteh character of the car, including responsiveness to accelerator inputs. It made an amazing difference, but I have not been able to feel the effect on my 360.

    Ken -- No, you still can't over rev the engine under load. By "soft", I mean the car can bounce off the limiter under acceleration w/o the dramatic cut out of torque/power you usually experience when hitting the rev limiter. This may be useful at times when on the track and holding the rpm's at/or near redline in a corner -- you don't want to experience a "shut down" of the engine while in the corner -- bad things could happen. ;)

    I think this element of sport mode is true whether an F1 or manual tranny, but I'm not certain. Also, bear in mind with the F1 tranny you can't down shift in error and over rev the engine -- not so with a manual. Rev limiter only works under load.

    That makes a lot of sense. The next time I am at 8,500 revs going round a corner I'll make sure I'm in Sport mode!
