Won two tickets for Silverstone from Toyota (due to my great driving and reaction skills !!), it is very likely that Silverstone will be cancelled and therefore can choose any other European circuit to goto.

What do you think is the best in terms of viewing ? Always fancied Eau Rouge.

I would go to Monaco. You may not see much of the race, but as an event it is meant to be amazing.

mmmmmmmmmm........... Monaco = casino too mmmmmmmmmmm.........

I guess the cost of digs in Monaco might be a bit OTT, but definately worth considering.

Is anyone from on here planning on going down there next year ?

(I wonder what Monaco pay Bernie for the privilege of driving around their streets)

It's definitely between Monaco and Spa.

Monaco is such an amazing occasion. I went last year, drove down over the Wed & Thurs (with 12 Fcars exiting the Chunnel and proceeding straight to 160mph across France - can't do that any more), stayed with a friend who lives there, got pit passes all weekend, drove the circuit at 2am on the race day for over an hour, saw the race from the back of a big yacht and went to the driver & celeb party on the Sunday night ! It doesn't get much better than that ! It's best to stay up the coast towards Nice over the GP weekend unless you have friends in town, as there are no spare hotel rooms in Monaco (worse than Le Mans - booked up over a year in advance). If your tickets get you into a stand anywhere near the swimming pool complex, or the harbour front, sit at the back of the stand and you'll see the cars come round behind you on the pit straight as well. You will need ear-plugs more than any other circuit in the world ! The whole buzz of the event for days before is incredible.

Spa is such an amazing track - certainly my favourite to drive in Europe - and the elevation differences mean you can often get a good view of the race, unlike Hockenhiem or Silverstone which are so flat. It's Belgium so good food, cheap drinks and friendly people are guaranteed. There is quite a lot of the circuit that's a way off into the forest, so you tend to hear more than you see, but anywhere near Eau Rouge (where I once very stupidly got all four wheels off the ground in my 355 by getting the red mist) or the pits will give a good view.

A hard choice, but clearly you'll just have to make a future visit to whichever one you don't choose this time.

    Enjoy.

hi rick.. a pal of mine has a spot in monaco, and an office overlooking the course, as it enters the marina section .... he rents seven rooms to honda for the week, so it's a little cramped, but real good.
    see you next week, d
