I'm laughing at the line in the listing about test driving it on the Strip.

There's nothing like test driving a Ferrari at 5 MPH in stop and go traffic while avoiding jaywalkers! :)

This car was displayed at Bertolinis I think awhile back, its a restaurant bar on the S end of the strip,

I remember stopping it and seeing it as they had it displayed outside with a sign -win this Ferrari, if you hit a Royal Flush in the bar area you were entered in the drawing to win it, it was there for over 6 months parked outside in the hot summer sun all day on display in the entry area. The sign inside the bar said "Win this 1986 Ferrari 308" , when I was there I told the bartender and manager the sign was wrong as they did not make the 308 in 86, they clearly didn't care as this guy who won it still thinks he has a 86. Tha car was in nice condition when I saw it over a year ago at the restaurant, I was unaware it had a turbo though.

I'm sure it isn't really a 1986, and I suspect it may not be even 1985. The listing shows a SN of 54945. According to a FML list of model production, the range of 308 GTS QV SN's was 41701 to 59265. So this one wasn't that close to the end of the production run.

Be aware that cars are often titled as the next year. American cars made in September are now a 2005 model, not 2004. We "experts" seem to revert to the actual year made as the model year. I wouldn't be surprised if a late 1985 308 was titled by someone as a 1986 not knowing that could only be a 328.

My 1972 TC Europa was titled as a 1973, and my car, made in August 1972, was one of the last TC's made. They were replaced by the Special, so there are no 1973 TC's.

Progress (or lack thereof) report: It is actualy raining in Las Vegas today, so Jeff and I decided to postpone. When I called the seller, he was less than pleasant. He stated that it (the rain) shouldn't make any difference, since the car is indoors. I replied that in addition to seeing the car, we would want to drive it. His answer to that was "nobody drives the car but me" (!) He reluctantly added that he would be willing to take one of us for a short drive.

I don't know how any of you would react, but my attitude is that anyone unwilling to let a prospective buyer drive a car is trying to hide something. And I shudder to think how he would react if we suggested an inspection!

So unless one of you FChatters badly wants us to take a look at the car, Jeff and I have decided to find other things to do with our time.

What an idiot. I have seen people act like that. I would like to hear his response to an inspection.

I have a different view. I think it is reasonable for a seller to deny buyers a "joy ride" unless there's some demonstration that you are serious. Of course, driving for an hour to see the car is, to me, a reasonable demonstration of intent.

I sent an e mail asking about the car. this is what he said, if you're interested.

"The car is a turboed 328 GTS (red/tan convertible) with all of its
work done exclusively by Norwood Performance, including regular
services. I just had the 30,000 mile service completed on the car
    where practically every item was
replaced w/ new parts. (The service/parts cost roughly $10,000) The
car is in great condition and in A+ mechanical shape right now and has
not been driven since the service.
    Other things you should know:
There have been ~$25,000+ of performance enhancements
made to the car (by Norwood), such as:

    1) Engine fully rebuilt with copper headgaskets, forged 'turbo'
pistons etc. (There's only 7,000 miles on the new motor)
    2) Haltech E-6 programmable engine management system
    3) Non intercooled turbo system w/ Garret TO 4 turbo.

The mods bring the car from a stock 240bhp to ~400bhp.

    My asking price is $45,000."

Kind of curious that his asking price is $45K, but he's put it on EBay at no reserve.

Car apparently was sold for $30K. A lot less than his "asking price".
