no back seat, unless you're in for being strapped down on the luggage shelf (don't think it would be very comfortable).

huebert the engine does not need to come out there is a secret back door compartment behind the driver and passenger seat you have to take off the back carpet and it looks like a little door easy access to the timeing belts.

Anyway.....if the manual doesn't say it is necessary..it is not..regardless of what the people who get paid to do the work say.

My engine will be pulled as well. Think they'll mistakenly swap 'em?

    What's the chances of squishing a 360 engine into a 308? Hmmmmmm :)
    a 360 with a 308 engine? slower than a viper :)

    perhaps not

i forgot what they were. there was a thread in the 'modern' section awhile back. do a search and dig it up. just search for 'timing variators' and im sure you will easily find it. it tells u what year ur car had to be and the vin numbers they are recalling.

    brad,

    here is the link:

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24578&highlight=timing+variators

Factory recall to replace the cam variators. This campaign involves all 360 models with engine numbers below 60796 only (vin range; 114015 to 123399). I believe it covers Model year from 1999 through early 2001.

jc...let's get the cars into FofLI when the snow starts falling so we wont have to pay for monthly parking. figure our cars would be in there for a month.

    Sam,
They won't listen. Besides, everyone knows that a 360 is not built as well as a Mondial and thus need constant servicing. While they're all riding the bus we'll be cruising in our Ferraris. :)

Why, just the other day one might even say Sam was "Lighting up the night" in his Mondial.

(Sorry Sam, Firefly was too tempting a target)

i won't make any mention of it, but a lesser man might point out that 360s and other newer models don't seem to have the same tendancy to spontaneously burst into flames for no apparent reason as some of the others... ;)

ooops, now that i have mentioned it, i guess i am a lesser man. :( sorry to hear about it sam, and i hope to have you rolling with us again soon, and that the damage turns out to be as little as possible.

and if it's any consolation, you can always remember that all of our cars simulate bursting into flames for no apparent reason (think of rene's situation a few months back)

Sam was just providing some extra illumination so all the 360 owners could better do their monthly timing belt change. :)

    Of course.
But c’mon, Tom, the guys who do the service said it should be every 15,000 miles. Why would they lie?? ;)

I just did a thorough check of the 360 manual, and I'm going to officially semi-recant my statement and semi-apologize to Keith for giving him the smackdown.

According to the 360 manual, the timing belt needs to be changed every 50,000km (31,068.5596 miles) or 3 years, whichever comes first.

That means that anyone with an '00 or '01 360 should have their belts changed, which means Hubi and JC should probably have it done if they haven't yet.

But this also means that since I just had my belts changed 8 months and 16k miles ago, I don't need to have them re-done again (yet.)
