I am finally having my jerry rigged exhaust looked at next week. I have some euro dual tips coming in from the UK and have ordered a pair of stainless steel glaspacks from Magnaflo.

My existing set up is one single pipe outlet with a dummy outlet welded on to make things look right. see picture attached

My question is.................what will dual tips and glasspacks do for my car. I'm not so much interested in the few h.p. gains but more interested in the effect it will have on the sound of the car.

Can anybody shed some light on what I can expect.

    Thanks in advance as always!!

I believe the general rule is that as the interior volume of the silencer increases, the deeper/bassier in the NV sense. If your two Magnaflows (or do you literally mean a different company "Magnaflo"?) look like those in this thread:

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11368&highlight=magnaflow

the interior volume is minimized so it's got more high frequency audio content preserved as John A. had mentioned (as well as a straight-thru glasspack promoting the same effect).

(I know it's only 3L, but that existing single outlet looks way too small.)

The "problem" is just having the extra restriction of such a small exhaust system. I can't really see in your jpeg how the two banks join together and how much of the path is co-joined, but that (single) pipe size looks more appropriate for something with about 1.5L displacement.

Not trying to be critical, just trying to make the point that acoustics should be a secondary priority to function, and virtually anything (Aftermarket, Used stock, New stock) would be an easy decision for you.

Give a little of your thought process -- you're not considering Tubi, stebro, etc. du to price? Did you look for used stock or price new stock from FerrariUK?

    91tr,

its basically one muffler that has the 2 inlets then the on left side single outlet. I agree that the set up looks to small and restrictive. I honestly wasn't that concerned about the sound, just that it sounds pretty good right now and hopefully the new set up will not take away from that and only make it better.

I did check around for pricing, the guys in Nottinghamshire UK actually had a good price for the complete set up............they are the ones doing the fab. on the tips for me. I was initially going to try the tips and Magnaflo set up.... if Im not happy with it I'll continue the search.

I guess basically I don't want to ruin the sound I have now.

I settled on the largest free flow (no baffles) Dynomax after trying a Magnaflow (see FChat archives) that would fit for my single cat 3.2 with single 3" in and dual 2.5 out, initially with twin open 3" dual tips. Great low snarly sound (better and deeper than previous higher pitched Tubi to me), but a bit loud.

Added 4 X 10" long resonated Ansa chrome slashed tail pipes (@$18 each from Ansa) exactly like a Ferrari Daytona which had a remarkable effect. Much less volume and a much smoother tone (Can happily email photos or see posted photos at Ftalk). The resonated tips do make a difference in sound volume and smoothness.

I don't think you have anything to worry about -- "header + nothing + performance silencer" (almost regardless of brand or configuration) always sounds great on an alternate-bank-firing F engine IMO.
