I need advice for my 328 as I would like to enhance the sweet noise of it and been informed about Tuby pipes which I was told that it will give the engine a sweeter roar when accelerating. But what kind of enhancement that would give a better roaring sound when its engine is on but staying idle.
I am new so need plenty of advice.
    Thanks

There are some great 'off the shelf' commercially available exhaust components that definitely sweeten the 3.2 sound over the stock muffler. While they almost are all good, tubi is the most popular and the Capristo sounds the best to me for a pre-manufactured muffler - although I am a fan of custom systems. Even the Cat replacement test pipes make a difference. There are many exhaust threads that are applicable on Fchat, so do a search and you'll turn up some great info.

I agree. Don't waste your money on those high dollar mufflers from companies that overprice their products to what they perceive are rich and DUMB Ferrari owners who will pay any price for their Italian steeds. For only a few hundred dollars you can have a custom system made that will sound better anyway. You should have heard the BB512i I heard the other day that had $40.00 Cherry Bomb glass packs on it...it made Tubis sound like a Toyota Tercel.

Thank guys for your insight and I will search for more information. My main interest here is to enhance the sound when it is idle.
Will these mufflers enhance the sound both when running and idle or just when you push down your gas?
    Thanks again.

If you are triying to get a better sound at idle, replacing the CAT with a test pipe, especially the Stebro Resonator, will do it.

But Stebro is a difficult to deal with, they do not answer quicky to the requests, and there is more than one thread about their poor service.

I personally got one about 9 months ago, and I did not have any issues with Stebro, they shiped it in time, and I had no installation issues at all, it fitted the standard exhaust perfectlly.

The sound at idle is deffenitly better, with a deeper louder sound. At high revs there is not much diffrence with the standard sound, maybe a bit louder, but not much.

With regards to 'test pipes'.....are these being made with the threaded inserts for the O2 and Temp Sensors??? I've looked into having one made, and it looks to be a 'big deal' because of these threaded sensors.....

Yes - the 3.2 Stebro resonator I have (and is for sale) has a bung for the O2 sensor.

Can you send me a pic or two off-line? I'm interested.

What do you use for mounting hardware/springs/gaskets?

    Thanks, BTW

I prefer the tubi, and for a poor guy like me with a Ferrari, paying that much was allot of money. I have never regretted it and still think they are THE best, they are also made in Italy and they have made systems fo factory race cars, there is a rumor that they make the f1 exhaust but Ferrari does not divuldge this information I am told.

at idle my car goes BA BA BA BA BA BA BA VVVVRRRRROOOOOMMMMMMMM
BAAABAAA BAAA BAAA I have a carb car and at night flames shoot out of the exhaust

The welds on the tubi are some of the best I have ever seen and I really felt good about putting a Italian exhaust on the car.

    my 2 cents

    Rob
    Tubi
the right muffler at the right time for the right car

Tillman, where are you? He put the Stebro cat pipe on his car and it sounds great, especially at idle. With our cars side by side, his has more of a bass rumble while idling.

If you want to go all out:

    Tubi muffler/exhaust

Test pipe (good source is nick forza or anyone else...they are all the same really)

Refined exhaust headers, ported polished etc. (http://www.durable1.com/)

    Yes Sir,

It is a 1975 308gt4 with carbs, but I have heard 328's, 348's, 355's, 360's,f40's, 512 Tr's (DAMN) all with with tubis and they all sound great in my opinion. I actually wish mine was louder but I have a friend with a 512bb and he has a Borla and it is very cool but almost obnoxious. I was one of the first guys to buy a tubi when they first came out, and believe my $2500 10 years ago was allot of money to me but I still think t is the best money I spent. It weighed less than 30 pounds and i remember dancing around the yard with it as I was so excited.

I have to admit I am an engine guy (the engine is the heart to all Ferraris) and nothing makes me feel better than a Ferrari engine at redline, especially race cars without mufflers so I am I guess a bit nuts!!

I cannot honestly comment on the other makes as I have no direct knowledge of their sound or manufacture.

Unlike most Ferrari 328 owners, I would like to replace my Tubi with a OEM muffler. The noise created with the Tubi is really too loud. It's only a matter of time before I am cited for "loud and obnoxious noise". My 328 came complete with the Tubi when I bought it....

I am finding it difficult to locate a used OEM muffler for a Euro version 328. Anyone have any suggestions as to who I might contact to get one?

I have just put in a second hand Koni muffler and it improves the sound quite nicely when idle. I also have a feeling that it enhances the performance of my 328.
Anyway, thanks to all the advices and I am a novice here so I will probably try all the advice out!!!

I cut out the resonator off my 308's stock muffler, ran a pipe to the tip and it sounds sweeeeet!

Have a Tubi on mine. On idle, the sound is somewhat loud but NOT a whole lot. Between 3-4k rpm it comes to life. Still have the stock cat; must sound better with a test pipe.

I just purchased a Cat-Bypass Test Pipe from Durable 1.......its beautiful. It comes complete with fitted threads for the O2 and the Temp Sensors, as well as mounting collars. I've heard Tubi charges $400+ for their Test Pipe.....

I've been quoted from one of the lowest-of-lowball Exhaust shops here in Charleston - they wanted $150-$200+ for a 'homemade' test pipe made from the cheapest materials they had in their shop. Durable 1's pipe was about $270, and there's no doubt in my mind that it will fit my car perfectly (and is made from much-better steel than most OEM exhaust pipes). The hard part is finding a good source for fresh, new mounting hardware and exhaust gaskets. Anyone know a good source I should contact?
