Last time I took mine they gave me an exemption because the specs weren't in the computer.

Gas stations can do inpections if they're licensed... not emissions though. You have to go to a state facility for that.

The emissions testing center in Columbia waived me this past summer.

Barcheta: they waived? Do you have all original emissions equipment? I have to take my 84 QV in next month (no cats) and am worried it won't pass.

    thx.

They will sometimes wave you if they're worried the testing rig will damage your wheels/car. Ask them if it will damage the car etc.

I have taken my TR twice now for emissions testing and each time, they take one look at it and give me a 2 year waiver, as they don't want to be responsible for messing up my car. When I first drove in a few years ago, the guy at the testing equipment told me to just go inside and tell them that I have a Ferrari. I did that, and they gave me a 2 year waiver. Then, earlier this year, when my time came up again, I just walked in, showed the guy the previous waiver, and he gave me another 2 year waiver, telling me that Maryland is not terribly concerned about Ferraris polluting the environment. Good luck.

I took my ex-348 to the Waldorf VEIP center and they gave me a pass. They didnt want to put the car on the dyno. This happened about 2 yrs ago.

I took my 98 355 to the Frederick emmisions last month. They measured the undercarriage from every possible angle and after they were convinced it would pass over the rollers they had me drive it in. They hooked up the on-board computer and three minutes later I was good-to-go for the next two years. The supervisor told me that MD has plans to add a "flat" bay, mostly for RVs.

Went to the emissions testing station off of Redland Road in Rockville earlier this year. They couldn;t have been more courteous or careful with teh car. Had me back into the test bay from the exit end, so it wouldn't have to go over the rollers of the dyno. They hooked up the test cable to the OBD-II connector and the test was successfully done in about 30 seconds. Then, spent another 10 minutes chit-chatting with the guys, who told me that next time the inspection is due, just come inside (don;t pull into any lanes) and tey will "take care of it." By the way, car is a 1999 550.

If any of you guys have an '84 or older Ferrari, you can tag the car as historic in MD. No safety inspection, emissions testing, reduced registration cost and insurance.

so it turns out I worried for nothing. took the car in today and it passed. They did not put on the dyno however, just had me idle and rev to 2500 rpm. good til 06 now. :)
