    I'm wanting to replace the old stereo in my 328. The one I've got now required an additonal amp which meant additional wiring. It also was very difficult to see the digital display in sunlight. Obviously, I don't want to do any cutting or modifing the front panel or wire a separate CD player in the trunk. Please let me know what kind you suggest and how hard it was to install.

    I had a local guy saw a new 'chassis mount' opening into mine....carefully.

    Now anything out there will fit in.......

    Contact Crutchfield's. They are very helpful. I replaced the stereo in my 308QV w a Blaupunkt from them. It fit perfectly . Mine original also had an external amp, which I just removed as the new stereo had an internal one . It was a simple operation.

    I put in a JVC MP3 player that I bought at Best Buy for about $160, I fitted it myself with no problem, exactly the right size (I think they have been pretty much standard size for years) and not much wiring to do. Works great, and I bought a model with out all the flashing colored gizmos, so it looks in keeping with a 1987 car.

    I had the standard Alpine with external amp in my 328 and had the same problem with poor LCD screen. Changed it for a Sony with internal amp. It was easy to fit wires are long enough to come out with the existing raido for change out and no mods to the facia. You may find you have to take out the heater feed pipe to the lower two heater vents to allow access to the amp for removal. You should be able to finish it in less than a couple of hours.
