No need to tell you the long list that got me this far, its been 3 days though! 1985 Mondial qv narrowed my long crank no start problem to a rpm sensor, but now after installing it, I finally got spark to both banks but it's weak. Anyone have any experience on where I should look first?? I am thinking the ground wires? Car was running great prior to the no start problem. Battery is fine. Any advice is appreciated, gettting very frustrated and tired!
It's very possible that there's not 1 single cause. Things to do for free are: Check spark plug gaps Clean every electrical contact in the system Examine the underside of the distributor cap for cracks, and excessive pitting on the contacts and rotor arm. If still no improvement then you may need to start replacing parts. I'd start with the spark plugs and spark plug leads because they're the least expensive bits to replace.
If I understand you correctly A car did not run B found bad RPM sensor C now have weak spark Does car still not run, and can you quantify "Weak spark" ? Have you checked it for KV on a scope or are you just measuring it with an eyeball.
