check engine light on 2001 360 spider.

1. Bad air sensor,
2. loose fuel cap,
3. bad cats,
4. bad pre-cats.

The best way to figure that out is to put in on the computer, and the code will tell you what's wrong. You can buy a handheld unit for about $150 from Kragens, but you'll need the code book to go with it.

 

On the SD2 there are eight pages of error codes for the right bank and six or seven for the left bank. If you could narrow it down a bit it would help. Has the car been serviced recently? What were you doing around the time it came on? Is the gas cap on correctly? What were water and oil temp? The only real pattern failure on those was evap system leaks and I would have thought that one would have reared it's ugly head a long time ago.

I just read what yellow360 said and he is correct about all of that but, a generic scan tool will access only about 1/4 of the things that can set that light. You may be heading to a shop that has an SD2 before you get it resolved.

 

I had a CEL that was caused by a loose ground wire. So many possible causes...
