Ok, so whats with this 'cupholder' obsession, you drive and ENJOY the drive, then you park and THEN you get the cup and sit and admire your Ferrari. Then you drive again and feel the passion. Easy, see, no cupholder required at all.

Small and light like a lotus elise 355 motor, forget the creature comforts, drivable to the track $100k. Think modern Lancia stratos, exotic styling..

An Exoskeleton car, with no body, to concentrate on 2 elements, the engine and the driver.
Think of an Ariel Atom with a updated mid flat12 from the 512M. :)

I'd really like a Dino mid engine 2+2 coupe, very simple with no computers, pretty big inside cause I need the headroom and luggage, an understated Pininfarina body, nice sound, DIY maint. friendly, every day usable.

    Hey wait...that's what I have!

A custom 2 door coupe. Hydroformed chassis... Front mid mounted motor... 7.0L twelve cylinder with spherical rotary valve technology so it can rev to the moon (read somewhere some company got a 5.7L V8 in the mid to high 5 digit RPMs) while still achieving good fuel ecomony...that is at least, if this technology is still being researched... Side pips. Motor mated to a seven speed sequential transmission complete with your very own clutch pedal... like in real race cars... and a shift stick (tap up for upshift and down for downshift of course) located where the P Carrera GT has its. Optional F1 paddles to compliment stick... SMG style... either fixed and on the steering wheel. E-Differential. Enzo style suspension, breaks and rear end (just not as crazy)... Maranello front end, with some Pininfarina Rossa cues here and there. Enzo wheels... chromed maybe about half as much as the Rossa's 550 wheels. Built in roll cage with air bags all around. Optional hardtop convertable w/ motified roll cage.

    That sounds sooooooooo sweet.

    great thread

i want something reliable and easy to drive to track days so a 430 spider stripped to weigh under 2500 lbs loaded with driver then fitted with look a like sp333 bodywork.

next is a 4 door cab that i can use to take 4 people out on sat nite so how about a 612 scag restyled as an open 4 door sedan.

I seriously think Ferrari should start building Formula cars for private customers. I am not talking about full-on F-1's but more along the line of the Radical or Ariel Atom. They would not have to be street legal.
    Two proposals.

    1. A two seater "Le-Mans" style open prototype with a 2.4 V-8 with around 250-270 hp at 9000 rpm. Maybe around 80,000 USD. F1 transmission.

    2. A Formula style single seater with an MV Augusta (Ferrari helped develop them in the 90's) bike engine and twin turbos (A Radical has a twin turbo Hyabusa engine) with around 300 hp and 13,000 rpm redline. 100,000 USD.

    chassis: full carbon tub.
    body: carbon F40-red of course.
suspension: rocker arm actuated with push rods, triple adjustable Ohlins shocks, and front and rear cockpit adjustable sway-bars.
    engine: Shumi's f2004 V-10 (hell Ruben's would work too).
transaxle: CART sequential 6 speed dog box from Hewland. AHH clutchless shifting :).
    Wheels: Silver Speedlines.
    Exhaust: Tubi polished Ti.
Brakes: Huge forged Brembo or AP units with full floating discs mated to forged alloy hats, dual master cylinders, and cockpit adjustable bias/balance bar.

Weight 2400 lbs., H.P. 800+. Do the math- 3 to 1 H.P. to weight ratio.
    Yeehaaaaaa!

That should do it. If they ever built it, I'd sell evrything I own to have it.

    Back to reality,
    John
