Is he factory still building 360 spiders?

I was told that the factory has stopped building all 360s, Spiders and Stradales. (They stopped building the coupe earlier this year.) Because the Spider was a separate assembly line, this can only mean that they have started building F430 Spiders.

I was advised a few weeks ago by Maranello that the last Spiders will be produced in December. Modena and CS production stopped in July.

They had a 360 Spider at the Paris Auto Show so I'd have to think they are still producing them till they start the F430 Spider. I think we'll see the F430 Spider sooner than you think. I saw two completed F430 Spiders outside the factory about 3 weeks ago.

 

That seems very odd, since a couple board members just got their ordered CSs, and mine's due to hit port on Fri. Are you saying all 3 of these cars, including mine, were made no later than July?

 

That would appear to be the case. It is my understanding taht the factory shut down for the month of August and production of the Modena and CS finished then. I have a 360 Modena that was built in July, which I took delivery of in August and registered in September. perhaps we can compare chasis numbers to see how close they are.

The last CSs come off the production line at the end of October.

The Modena was finished in July as the F430 went into "production" in September ( a few cars are being delivered in Nov in Europe)

The 360 Spider remains in the 2005 line up (and therefore in production). The F430 Spider will only be available from 2006 onwards.

The F430 Challenge hits the track for the 2006 season

No decision has been taken yet with regard to a CS version of the 430. This is because it was already extremely difficult to build and homologate the Challenge Stradale in 2002/2003 and that since then regulations have gotten "worse". As a result, the excercise may prove to be too costly.

 

I spoke with my dealer yesterday. They informed me that 360 spider production has stopped. All 360 production has stopped. At the moment only the F430 coupe will be producted. And the allocation for F430s is very low.

Ferrari is really going to have troubles or I should say the dealers. There are still so many people waiting to get their new 360 spider. And now it seems they won't.

Given that you are in CT, suppose your dealer is Miller? Any case tell him that he does not know what he is talking about (unless he is trying to get you to put down a deposit on a loooong 430 wait list).
The 360 Spider is still being produced, is catalogued as part of the 2005 Ferrari line up and this is the way Ferrari have always done it (348/355) .

 

Thanks ChalStrad - seems like the most logical production summary to me, especially given precedent.

 

my dealer also told me a few days ago that all 360 production has stopped, including 360 Spider production. they're apparently trying to figure out how to deal with people who've been on the 360 Spider lists for years who aren't going to get cars now.

ChalStrad - you're speaking with quite a bit of authority - could you elaborate further where your data is coming from?

I agree with Doody. You seem very informed. Where is your info from? My dealer has told me that after the current spiders that they have ordered that will be all they are getting. The F430 list is long enough and no dealer I know of is taking any more people for the F430 until Ferrari informs them of what their allocation will be. Also Chalstrad, haven't you heard that the manufacturer reserve the right to change information at their choosing when they feel like it and inform the rest of us when they feel like me need to know. I hope you are correct and Ferrari keeps building the 360 spider. And yes you are right typically Ferrari has kept producing the spider version of the previous model while they roll out the new model coupe.

What I was told is that there are no more November/December build dates for 360 Spiders. To confirm this, have your dealer attempt to input an order. The results will tell you all you need to know.

Actually, the truth is probably that they have SOLD OUT all the '05 Spiders (especially for the US) and that is why you can't order one....F430 Spiders won't get here before '06.

By the way, Mr Doody, I guess you have a Challenge Stradale? You refer to a 360 Challenge Stradale just to nitpick and remind you that our car is just that touch more exclusive, its real name is: Ferrari Challenge Stradale...no 360, no Modena. That was done on purpose...

seriously - what's your source? a number of unrelated dealers now have told a number of unrelated customers the same thing all within a very short period of time (last weekend?).

i'm not saying you're wrong, i can certainly believe that they would do this, but your data is singular and uncorroborated.

for sure - they were sold out years ago.

I could never sue anyone who has the same car as I do - after all it IS the best car in the world!!! You should see the faces on those Enzo owners when they can't shake you round a racetrack.....all those $$$$s and a littl'old CS gives them a run for their MONEY. I love the exclusive touch to the name!

I was at the factory 2 weeks ago and they were DEFINATELY making spiders and Stradales but cannot remember if there were any 360s,they are all on the same production line.

Spoke to a friend of mine today. It is true dealers are not taking any orders for a 360 spider and have not been for along time now. But the dealers are also being told that no new 360 spiders will be built and or delivered next year 2005. Production is going to stop this year. Production has already stopped on the coupe. I admit I find this news truly amazing. I feel terrible for all those people who have waited for a new 360 spider and are now going to be told they will not be getting it. Any thoughts from all of you?

What the hell? How can u produce spiders and coupes on the same line? How could they be anything but 360 spiders/stradales. This is like riding a crazy horse towards a burning barn. So if it is true that all 360 spider deposit holders are SOL, are they first in line for 430 spiders??????

Hmmmm. My Spider is just finishing being built. I should get it in a few weeks (FoS). The statement probably pertains to orders being placed now, not Spiders which are still being built - now. - Tim

 

I was at the factory earlier this month. On the v 8 line were 360's/430's 15/1. My neighbor's 360 is scheduled to be delivered here some time in January.

Ditto. My local dealer told me yesterday the 360 and 360 Spider production has been halted to switch over to 430's.

 

The differences between what people are seeing at the factory and what dealers are saying is quite remarkable...
