thanks, your car looks great!!!! i am hoping to have mine here in the next week or so. i am hunting a euro front spoiler and front bumper, now that i have a price on the Compomotive wheels!!
Reaper: Have you considered going the shock drill-out option instead? I was dead set on leaving the car OEM, but this spring said heck with it. I did it in about 30 mins and love the results. Best of all, I still have a "little" nudge protection from the possibilty of bad parkers... OEM Euro fronts will probably be damaged in even minor bumps. They do however bring the nose even closer to the front clip. A very aggressive look! If you do decide to drill out the shocks, be very gentle pushing the molded bumpers in. They are coated and can CRACK! I damaged mine near the turn lamp. Just be patient and push evenly with a towel or something; it will compress nicely and stay in place. I even didn't need to add set screws. Been tucked in and straight all summer. Look forward to seeing the "personalization" of your beautiful GTB. You choose a tire yet for those wheels? I'll look for a new thread ; ) Regards, Steve
i did the "drill the shocks" thing on the Marrone 308gts i just sold. i really did not like it. my "toy" cars are weekend cruisers and are not driven or left anywhere around town. i shy away from the heavy traffic areas ( usually). once i have the car here and give it a once over, i will know if i am going to sell off the stock 14's and the 16's that i have . car wont be here until monday or so.
this sucks, i am sitting here on a thursday night, before the Ferrari track event, wishing my GTB was here. sometime, between saturday and monday, arrive, it will. ...and i am off work until tuesday also. i will update later and compare and contrast the GTS versus GTB. will the "Resale Red" car win? or will the GTS's mods and open air capability put it on top.......... ???? stay tuned!
LMAO, ME TOO! ME TOO! i hope it will arrive TODAY. really nice of you to ask for an update . transport guy has some explaining to do, if he ever calls me back. at least the car is well insured, so if its on a boat or in a chop shop now, i can get another one! i thought after buying my first Ferrari, that i would be jaded and not worry about "THE WAIT". geeze, waiting for your car to get to you safely still REALLY SUCKS each and every time !
dammit. tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow. how the heck do people wait on lists FOR YEARS to buy / recieve thier Ferrari?
waiing is a biotch...but worth it! the gtb's are sweet!!! good job my friend. look forward to meeting you soon at savanah! best, peter
Its already tommorow and still no update.....You selfish ______! I bet your your going crazy going over the car. Have a good time with her!
thanks to all for the additional posts, the GTB arrived LATE last night. we had to unload some other cars to get the 308 out . i have to be at work shortly, but i am planning on bieng sick ( cough cough ) friday so i can have a 3 day weekend to play with the car. i promise more pics and details. this car is STUNNING compared to the Marrone 308GTS i had! thanks to all here for all the behind the scenes support. i will be needing to find a new exhaust FAST as the car still has the cats, air pumps, extra points and micro switches for emissions. i miss that Ansa i had on the other car. all this emissions crap and these 14x7 1/2 inch wheels ( all 5 of them ) have got to go!!! i will call T Rutlands and see if they have any used ones off a beater 308.
Nice car...you were lucky ! Thought about the pre-ABS 328 wheels we have ? Genuine Eyetalian pieces ! About $1660 a set shipped...
i have a set of those. thank you though. see my thread about the "288 GTO wheels" i already have a list of stuff i am going to get for the car. i will try your site first, since you are a sponsor here!
ok here are some pics for those who have been Pm'ing me for them. the car is RED !!!!!! I MEAN really red!
2 the spare is a Speedline, with the "black out" treatment, the other 4 are Campy's. by the way the car was sold new at Hollywood Sports cars, as someone here suggested! anyone want to chime in as to whether or not these are supposed to have a full size spare or a "donut" spare? the fact that it has the "blackout" finish on it and it seems old (ahem original), is interesting! and the a/c works, i was wondering why it was a sluggish trying to get it off the ramps on the transport truck, the car was stone cold with the a/c on and it ran well!
Well done Carreaper, the GTB looks fantastic. I see that you have the popular option of a 52mm x 104mm x 1000mm hood prop. My car has Compomotive wheels, installed by the PO. They are very high quality wheels, look great especially when I buff the rims but beware: cleaning around those bolts is a MAJOR PAIN !! Also the brake dust tends to stain the polished aluminum rims, I found that using a soft natural brisle paint brush to dust off the wheels after each drive keeps the wheels much cleaner.
thanks! the hood prop thingy on my old GTS broke right before the ad came out to sell it. i recieved this one,and its broken at the same place. i called around and the little top piece is $150.00!!!!!!!!! i am going to make something in the machine shop at work in my off time.
looking at your pictures with the fuel lines exposed, They look....different then I recall of my old 78. They look like they are routed different. Can you post a closer picture?
also, you might want to change out your rubber oil cooler lines for steel braided ones for more consistant oil pressure. If you change them out, get them from GT car parts. They have the best price on them.
i sure will, and thanks for the info on the wheels. i tried to find the "other" thread that you posted that in and i could not find it! been really busy. i am going to do the belt service and a clutch and keep this one a while.
