I was wondering what the wrench sizes should be in a 308 tool kit. I seem to be missing one but can't tell which size. Thanks
I believe my kit is complete (in mm) 20/22 open end 18/19 open end 16/17 open end 13/12 open end 14 open/box 10/11 open 8/9 open 5/7 open also pair of pliers/wire cutters spark plug tool/wrench (2) philllips screw drivers (2) sloted screw drivers I *think* I may be missing the window crank.
Clyde, Hmmmmmm. I have 20/22 19/18 17/16 15/14 13/12 11/10 9/9 7/6 4 screwdrivers 1 set of pliers Looks like I might be missing the window crank as well!!
Perhaps it's time to take a roll-call of what everyone has & see if off tools are a Ferrari thing or an us thing
Well I'll bet this has been discussed before, but here's a pic of what I've got. '78 USA GTS. I'm a little curious myself as none of my tools say Ferrari or any such on them, but rather "EVEREST" and "Made in India". Did someone scam the cool Ferrari tools and replace them with cheapies? You'll note that I have the "all open end wrench" setup. Oh, the window crank is in the passenger compartment. The tire gauge is certainly old, no telling if it's original!
1976 GTB with original tool kit. My wrenches also are Everest, made in India. The screwdrivers are unlabeled.
My window crank is in its own soft plastic case and kept in the lockable glove box between the seat backs, together with the inspection lamp that plugs into the special socket beneath the right hand dash. '76 GTB. I also have the warning triangle which came as original equipment I believe.
Check the other thread on Ferrari tool kits from the FerrariUK manager. He has both styles.... The EARLY 308s used the unlabeled style, and yes, "Made in India" (from melted pot metal), is correct! LOL. The LATER 308s went to the Ferrari embossed labeling and of course omitted the carb tool once injection was fitted... Both are in stock right now with Jeff Howe, Ferrari UK...New Old Stock.
...yes, triangle was included, I think on the later cars........ ....trouble light is also stock..............
Thanks for the kind words BigTex ! We also have these, loose - don't ask me where they fit into the equation but they are marked made in Italy and have a Factory part # of 114439. £4.90 each and we have 8 of them. All 14 mil. Any good ? Other tool roll thread here: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35781&highlight=spanners
Hi Paul, The warning triangle was not included in early North American version 308s sold on this side of the pond. Bubba, you're being too kind saying the Everest wrenches are pot metal! Barry
my '83 set says Utema N'1000 - Italy on one side Chrom - Vanadium on the other. Not marked "Ferrari" at all. and no window crank (maybe not for a GTB) and no "dash" light. *however*, when I saw the tools before the car went for a PPI @ a dealer, I'd swear they were marked "Ferrari". when I bought the car days later, they no longer said Ferrari. The prior owner swears he knows nothing of it and I believed him. Fudge.
What the hell is the window crank? Show a picture please. My car has electric windows but I don't see any place to use a manual crank if needed!
Birdman ! This is not the original 308 tool roll but to be honest I can't really see a difference ! It is listed for Testarossa, 288 and 400. #123254 and is £145. It is a lovely bit of kit, as you'll agree
That is almost identical to my '77 vintage roll........ All the ads say "with books and tools".......I don't think anyone would quibble unless you hit a Judge at a FCA show..... The window crank IS for the electric windows! In case of motor malfunction, you pop out the button on the door panel, and crank that baby up! LOL! Of course it's pot metal Dr. Barry!.........I have the tool roll allright along with two huge boxes of Craftsman stuff and a few hammers, duct tape and tie wire! THAT's a full Ferrari Tool Kit! I really like the Facom kits that Griot's sells as well, they have the Shield on the box for added BLING! If you added a carb wrench to the kit Jeff is showing, you'd be good to go, but the early 1977s have unlabeled screwdrivers..........
You'd need the plug wrench also, on closer look. The window crank tool looks like a speed wrench driver, with a special (square) tip on the end, to fit the mechanism........
The redneck is correct ! The plug spanner is about £17 and the carb spanner £3. We have both on the shelf.
There were 3 different types of emergency handle but only 2 are available now. #30078505 and #50031103 in that order, below.
"Tool Time" with Ferrari UK....... Not so much a "redneck' as Alternative Country......(Austin, TX. as opposed to Nashville, TN) We'd have to finish a case of beer, for me to have time to explain...... Now my brother the Banker has Longhorns in his yard....THAT's a redneck....LOL! I just have the little horsies on the back of my cars........
You refer to "The War of Northern Agression"....LOL! Texas was only tangentally involved in that one.......being more 'southwest' than "deep south", but we digress..... What else you find? Check the other thread for my comment on the leather boxes..they are cool! Maybe for Valeria's high heel shoes...
I think you need to buy one of those "wine cases" to keep in the car for emergencies ! Or a make-up case for her ladyship ! I have a feeling we supported the South in that war anyway...didn't we supply ships and ammunition ? Yee-haa !
