We did the same thing on our last trip. We will most probably do it again.
But I think that we cannot do that when the date is not yet set!

    We still have some time.

I must also admit that the date that is currently on top is not very good for me too.

    Thats (sadly!) not unusually!
2004: 25 participants sigend in - 15 joined at least the event
    2003: 15 participants sigend in - 8 showed up

When the date has been set, the organizers could/should start a down payment of Euro. 100,-/participant.

    Wooohhhhh Wolfgang.
People drop out, that's only natural. Once we have an itinnerary and we need to start booking hotels etc. Then we need to cough up the deposit. Its a bit unfair to exepect people to commit 100% so early. Between now and August next year some people will have more important things to do and will have to cancel. But others will also join in. 2 or 3 months before is early enough to talk about commiting and paying.

    Cheers
    Simon

    Simon,
sorry, my fault & my appologize!!!!
    My explanation was wrong.
No down payment right now!!! Think its good enough when the hotel reservations will start in May/June. Thats the point to take care of and make a down payment.

BTW I still think we should also do another Italy meet in May...Portofino, Rapallo, Sienna. That was for me the best rally so far....fantastic.
