With all the reports of the 360F1's having premature clutch wear, some as early as 5000 mi., is Ferrari covering this 100% under warranty or what are they covering versus the Manual version. I'm interested in purchasing a 360 but don't want to have to fight with Ferrari if the clutch fails after 5-6K miles.
    Thanks ...

I don't think they're warranting the clutches. Depends on how you drive them. On the older version, the software allowed outrageous take offs. Newer software softens things up. Clutches last longer.

He's spot on, clutches are a wear item. They last a long time if not mistreated and the system is operating correctly.

Is it true that the 355F1 clutches seem to last longer too than the 360's.
Also are the CS F1 clutch the same as the 360's??
Seems like the CS with more power and probable more track use would go through clutches much faster..

Last do the manual clutches in the 360's last as long as a normal sports car(i.e. 20-30k with some track use)???????

fwiw, FNA claims that the F1 clutch has a design life of 5-10K miles. This is according to an old post on this site. Although I've heard of several outlyers with much higher mileage on the original F1 clutch, I think the 5-10K mileage number is generally accurate.

You'll have more fun and less worry with a 6-speed manual!

    JMO, of course...

Nice to know, I plan on tracking the car so I know with the F1 I will be going through clutches faster. Rather go the old fashion way I guess of 6 speeding it and hopefully getting normal clutch wear..

My 98 355 F1 spider had clutch replaced at 7,000 miles, and is now 72% worn at 14,000 miles.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 355 F1 clutches seem to be lasting longer.
Is this due to the clutch design, clutch material or engine power increase??
Seems like the power difference is minimal(380 vs. 396) so makes more sense that it is because of a revised design..

I checked 2 cars last week, both 355's and both with 15K miles. One car showed 20% wear and the other 50% wear. The car with 20% wear came apart for TOB sensor repairs and a visual double check showed the figure to be correct.
I feel these are wonderful systems if folks can adapt to the short commings in design. Reverse and stop and go driving are the clutch eaters. If one can adapt to surge and coast driving in reverse and slow speeds the clutches can go well into the 20K mileage range. If the clutch release RPM is configured to happen at high RPM, the clutch wear is accelerated greatly. As Brian stated earlier, if treated with respect they last. On the other hand I have customers that get rear tires, clutches and oil changes all at the same interval. Generally the burn rate of money on maintaince costs changes that behavior in short order.

    Burn rate! Good one Dave.

Actually Ferrari has not made such a claim, some Service manager at some dealer maybe but not FNA. Their position is wear is the same, but that is just as big a fairy tale.

For about the 10th time,, I got to know quite well the engineer at SPA that was responsible for the long term durability testing for the F1 system and his report said that clutch life is reduced by about 40% over the six speed. There, that came to you indirectly from the horses mouth.
