Sorry to hear the trip is off but I think you guys are making a wise decision. The weather up here changes fast and in addition to sleet/snow/ice comes the DREADED road salt which they cover the roads with here. On the plus side I saw the first bit of snow on Stratton this morning so they must be getting the snowguns ready for all you skiers/boarders.
Hutch are you going to be doing any snowmobiling this winter? We should meet up and hit the trails if you can get your hands on a sled.
David I'm glad to hear I have a neighbor who has the Ferrari passion and I look forward to meeting you.

Hey Rob!! I don't think I'll be doing any sledding this year... well maybe, if I can borrow my brother's Arctic cat 600 ZRT. It is not a good sled for the tight trails around Wilmington, Bennington, Woodford. My brother bought it when he lived in Colorado. I sold my '95 Arctic cat Cougar 550 several years ago. Wilmington cops were on the trails more, issuing tickets for speeding (which go onto your real driver's license!), checking for full registration, and making you do the dui shuffle. It got to be too ridiculous!! And full registration with joing the local clubs, VAST fees, etc. got to be like $250 or $300. Add those factors in with getting hardly any snow for 2 years in a row, and that's why I sold my sled.
How is the sledding up by where you are? And what sled do you have??

Hutch my favorite ride is out to Woodford, I start out by Stratton and ride thru Somerset, Glastonbury etc. I also occasionaly ride out by the Somerset Dam and out to Wilmington. My snowmobile dealer is out in Wilmington and I can ride out to his door. You are right on about the cost in addition to the reg. expenses etc. insurance is now mandatory and I run hi test in my sled which gets about 10-12 m.p.g. and I was paying 2.30 a gallon last winter. The trails also get more and more crowded every year and the groomers just can't keep up so more often than not they are very rough. However I still enjoy it so I spend what I have to. I have a 03 Yamaha SX/600R it is a triple cylinder liquid cooled it has a little under 100 h.p. sounds great and handles like a dream.

Insurance is now mandatory??? WTF?? Glad I got rid of my sled... And yeah, there were too many people on the trails. Who is your dealer Cherry Hill Power sports (something like that...)? I used Rock Maple Powersports when they were open.

Yeah insurance became mandatory last year. It wasn't too bad about $100 but it adds to everything else.
I deal with R.L. Ruprecht's he deals in Ski-Doo/Yamaha he is on 100 in Wilmington a little ways before Haystack. I went to Rock Maple when I was first looking for a sled and didn't care for them at all. Cherry Creek is still around my friends who have polaris' deal with them and like them.

Bummer brother. Probably a wise decision with the weather. Let's take a raincheck till early next year, and we'll go have ourselves a fun weekend snowboarding when the powder's just right.

We didn't get any snow around Stratton yet. I took a ride today in my S2000 with the top down but it was a bit chilly!

VT missed the EC crew this weekend!! Going up friday, there was no traffic, took the TR up to 150 + or -!! Had a blast cruising on route 9, great driving roads!!! But today, it started snowing aroung 3:30. dumped about 2 inches in 2 hours. Had to crawl on the backroads when I left at 6:30. That was a learning experience.

I wouldn't even want to imagine my TR in the snow - to much power, and with summer tires...

    VERY SCARY
