Sorry didn't see your post until just now. I believe it was Mequire's Gold Wax and I used an orbital buffer.
Here is my 1980 308GTB, with carbs and dry sump. Bought it a few months ago in Italy from first owner and 8220 km's. After I took this picture in Maranello I drove her straight home to Amsterdam (about 1600km's). No problem!
