All very sad, especially so as it appears the car being pulled from the lake is not the car pictured in the beginning of the thread. To whet your appetite, check out the position of the rear vision mirror(s) and the deep front spoiler. Of course the rims could have been changed too but it's unlikely the original Italian registration could have switched in such a short period of time.

So hang on, am I reading too much into this, is the first car meant to be the second car or not, the more I read it, the more confused I am!

Carl, the black car (with Italian plates) on the first pictures seems to be Mick's NEW car. His OLD car (dark blue on Dutch plates) was crashed several months ago. So, two different cars ...

Anyway, the pictures show a terrible crash! I hope everybody has recovered fine. The car is less important ....

    Thanks Edvar,

Well, I am glad he's OK then, and that the upper car arrived after the lower car :) Many people don't get back into a car after spinal injuries, least of all another Ferrari.

Oh my, glad you're ok!! I remember seeing your old 308 at several meetings, even have some videos of it I think...

Glad you and your friend made it out alive!

I'm glad to hear everyone is OK, but breaking your back has got to hurt. I hope the recovery goes well. Now I know why those crappy 14" wheels and crappy 70's era tires were actually GOOD on a 308....they didn't give enough grip to hit the corners too hard so you couldn't push the limits of the car as far. :)

I'm glad to know that you got a new 308, but sad for the demise of the old one, which was very beautiful as I recal from previous threads. Just out of curiousity, what happened to the old one? Did you keep it? I'm sure the engine is mostly fine.

Hi guys, thanks for all the kind reactions.
To end the confusion, the black car is the NEW one. The accident happened on the 23rd of May 2004. I think the car rolled only once, after we spun 180 degrees and hit a low brick wall going sideways. This all happened on top of a dyke(hey, it's Holland!), and we ended at the bottom of dyke with the rear end of the car in the harbour of the town where this all happened.I had to wear a brace around my upperbody for 6 weeks, but I was back at work two months after the accident. I'm fine now. End of July I came across the black car in Italy, and I drove her home on the 27th of August.

Oh and Birdman, to answer your last question: I bought the wreckage back from the insurance company, after they settled the all-risk payment. I then sold it again almost the same day to a company that specializes in wrecked Ferrari's. Indeed the engine still started on the button, and most of the interior was still good.

Yes, it was the blue car that I had restored in phases over a period of about a year. The crash happened on a Sunday, just before the start of the Monaco GP. I had picked her up the day before from the shop that did all the bodywork, they had done some final buffing and polishing. Carl888 and others, the reason why the crash photo's came later on in this thread, was because Cinquevalvole asked "how about the blue one"....
After something like this happens to you, and you walk away from it the way we did, you don't have regrets about the car.It is in fact not more than that, just a car. You just feel lucky to be alive, and I am in the position to continue my passion. I would been really bummed and pi**ed off if someone had keyed or scratched my car just after a fresh restoration.

You've got an electronic ignition on your car. I wish I had one.

So what happened with your old car? Did the company you sold it to part it out or rebuild it?

    huuuu, Jesus, 8valve,
I'm realy shocked about your crash and glad you're fine again.
But there is no consolation for loosing the "blue one" and all the hours you spend working on it :(
Enjoy the insurence money and the black beauty.
(Please not so competitive in that nasty corner next time.)
Anyway, there is no better example for a strong 308-passion then in your case. Good to have you back on board!

Good recovery, and glad you got straight back on the (prancing) horse. That shows dedication!

It just goes to show how these older ones aren't as safe as a modern one, something that's always at the back of my mind when driving mine.

Thanks again for all the warm reactions. The car was parted out by the company that bought it from me. the body was way beyond economic repair, and the chassis was bent....
