I am looking to change out the exhaust on a 550. Any experience on the pros and cons on these choices? Weight, sound, etc. Also I hear straight pipes and/or a stebro are worth consideration, as well. I would really want to hear the V12 sing (within reason). Thoughts? Thx.

    Hi Richard -

As you know, I have a level 2 Capristo on my 360 and like it a lot. I haven't heard a 550 with anything but Tubi however. Capristo workmanship and appearance certainly rival Tubi and I like the sound better on the 360 than other options I've heard.

Thx for the feedback Gary. Let me know if you are interested in any other socal track events in the future. Maybe we can meet at Laguna Seca sometime too.

Sounds great! You should try Sears also, my favorite track of all. Much more entertaining to drive than Laguna, IMO, although I'll grant you it doesn't have the rep that Laguna has. I'll be at Sears tomorrow with TrackMasters.

I have a 2000, 550. Changed to Tubi .... big improvement, but also quite a bit louder at idle. At all other rpm's .... a bit louder than stock but a much nicer tone and in no way a noise issue, interior or exterior. I asked the same questions you have when I decided to change from stock mufflers and ended up going the safest route with the tubi's. Bought mine from HG Parts (a sponser on this site), paid $ 2,200. I just bought a stebro x-pipe, $ 575.00. Tubi gets 4 times this..... and it's really nothing more than $ 20 worth of mufler pipe and a few flanges so I don't understand why these cost so much. Will have the Stebro x-pipe on my car in a few weeks ..... not sure what it will do sound wise but I'm expecting another improvement. I'm basically interested in improving the exhaust note ... without getting much louder. Heard the x-pipe gives you more of a narly f-1 sound ..... I'll post again when I install it.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts. I have the Tubi's and am looking at having a x pipe made to replace centre muffler, if that doesn't work out will try pipe only to replace rears.
