california 97 spider under 7 years,80000 miles.the warrenty manual says cats, ecu and comuter sd2 are coverd , but dealer say the book those talk about difference ECU and cats ECU are not coverd. anyone can coment on that?
It seems difficult to get the straight story from a dealer and if you are not satisfied I suggest calling FNA and talking to Tino. Cats and ECU's and most items related to emissions are covered for seven years. Oxygen sensors are not. gary
I am going through this right now and based on the research and investigation I have done you should be covered if: 1. you have not modified you ECUs 2. you have maintained you car properly 3. the failure is not as a result of accident or abuse. Are you in California? California emission is 7/70K and Federal is 8/80K for cats. I suggest you read through some of the post regarding this issue and helpful links to know what your rights are: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35865 Also, read through your warranty and service manual book and any insert there may be. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this as I am currently linked in a live case with officials. A written denial from your dealer will be helpful for state and/or Federal agencies to get involved. Good Luck!
HI guys, thank you all for the informetion,I did contact the ferrari of north america and they refused to change the cat ECU,the dealer replaced only the cats.I would like to contact the federal authority.can anyone knows their phone number? or its not worth the agrevetion and just spend 500 from my own expence.
Not worth the hasstle if it's only $500, that's less than a cost of one track event. The cats however are close to $10K new.
MY original comlain about the car was, slow light comes on & off and after driving the car for 20 min the sound bacome louder and gurbele, the dealer replaced both cats and the clamp which conect the cats to the exhaust system.its now looks like the slow down light does not comes on but I still have the change in the sound.now whats next, what else can efect the sound (maybe manifold)?
Maybe you need a nice Tubi system on it If you can replace the ecu's for 500 smackers I would not even bother FNA about it. My car has been at the dealer for a month now figuring out wy the engine check light comes on. I think we have finally found closure this coming friday. It involved new O2 sensors, and new ECU's, after reprogramming them several times and finally deciding to put new ones in, at FNA's expense. Good luck with yours.
