So, I am patiently awaiting my 430 which i should be getting early 06 and am feeling the need for speed. I was not even considering a 550 but came across the following:

2000 550 for $102k with only 4200 miles. What are your thoughts?

Also is the 550 a car I can drive every day to and from work? 5 miles a day

Is it worth spending a little more and getting a 360 or a little less or same and a 355?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

    thanks

IF the car is not salvage, normal color, and it will pass a PPI without any major issues... 102k is a steal IMO! I have a 456 and I drive it every day in the summer months without any issues and only doing normal service. If you pass on it, PM me because I would be interested.

Something seems odd there. That price seems VERY low, does the car have no desirable options or something? $102K just seems low to me. Must be a odd color maybe?

They were asking $120k and now have reduced to $102k..no haggle price.

    It is Titanium on Black

What should these be selling for?

I recently heard that someone bought a brand new ( or almost) 575 from a dealer at 20% off of list price. I am assuming that there is downward pressure from the 575's

Agree. Never seen this price. Ever. Proceed with caution.

(Of course, if everything is legit, this is the best price I've ever seen for a '02 by far. But I would reiterate the need to check everything out.)

This is a salvage car that underwent major reconstruction after an accident. It seems well repaired with a very, very large repair bill and would be a good deal in the 80's, imo. I know they would sell mid 90's or less, but I would hold out for 80's. Could be a great driver if you plan on keeping it for awhile.

It's actually a 2000 my brotha Vik, but none the less a nice deal. This sounds like the 550 that had an encounter with a dear and had to have some repair. Was owned by a fellow Fchat member who has all the paperwork and details on the car. May be worth looking at for such a low figure...if it's the same car of course?

Once again, in the words of the not late, but great, Gerald Roush, the only three things that matter when considering a Ferrari are

    1. Condition.
    2. Condition.
    3. Condition.

You can almost bet that just about every vintage Ferrari has been in at least one fender bender. These cars are 30-40-50 years old. Moreover, most of them were driven. You do the math.

That said, if this car has a salvage title, this will effect its resale value, even if the car is in perfect condition. If you get a 20% discount due to the salvage title, you will probably come out whole on the other end. Odds are, though, that you will not make a profit.

If the car checks out, I'd buy it and drive it. $102,000 for a last-year 550 is a heck of a deal, assuming that all repairs have been properly done.

    Which f-chat member owned it?

Re-selling it would be a *****. And if you get a good deal going in it will have to be a good deal going out.....even more so as the repair will be "old" and an old salvage titler makes people even more nervous.

With nice 550's going for $119K if you have one problem with paint or bodywork you can eat up 5-10k easy.

    I say $85k.
