Maybe I'm the odd ball here, but I think Ferrari is making a mistake not pricing the F430 high enough. Simple econ 101 supply and demand curve. If you're going to limit production to keep exclusivity, price the thing as high as you can get away with and still sell out production.

Ferrari could have priced the Enzo at an even million and still sold just as many. Crazy Italians, what were they thinking leaving cash on the table...

If some of you look back at the 308 as mentioned here. You would see that the 308 in 1979 was priced higher than most peoples yearly income. What has changed? Nothing. The 360/F430 is still the entry level Ferrari just as back then. Ferrari has never been interested in building a cheaper car to compete with Porsche or any other sports car builder. Enzo Ferrari did not want to build cars for lots of people but for the few people. Enzo never felt he had any competion.

Currently it appears that the game plan is quite simple. Ferrari is the top of the food chain, then Maserati, then Alfa, and then Fiat. So if this plan actually works they will never duplicate cars in the product line like all USA manufacturer's have done. The plan might actually work very well. You will try to comfortably more up the chain until you can get to buying a Ferrari. The ability to buy a Ferrari is an achievement no matter which one you buy. It is a very special car not just to us but to lots of people who dream of one day being able to be fortunate to buy a Ferrari be it new or used no matter. I hope there continues to always be people moving into wanting to own a Ferrari. Remember they are the ones that buy the cars we trade to buy our next car. So the exclusive club mentality is good with me.

Also look at the fact that after all these years Ferrari is still only willing to build 400 to 4500 cars for the world even though more countries are selling them. Ferrari could build twice the number of F430s and it still would not be a car sitting on a dealers showroom waiting for a buyer. And that is at a price of $200K. So Ferrari is not remotely motivated to even consider a cheaper car.

What makes me sad and or angry is that there are lots of us that would love to buy/own/and drive a F430 but we will have to wait for 5 years if you are lucky to get it even then or pay a great premium to have one in the first year to 18 months.

What do all of you think?
