Watch for the eyes in the skies . We looked so nice at the TSS that even the red light camera monitoring program got a piece of me. Well at least won't go on my license they want $50.00 bucks to call it even.

So you ran a red and they sent you a ticket in the mail? How does that work? Do points go on the license? To my knowledge that would not be allowed since technically they do not know who is driving. Where did this happen?

u seriously dont know??? man u need to get out often.
if a car gets caught running a red, the owner gets a tix in mail, no point, cuz they do not know who is driving, but since its your car, you are liable for the fine.
    they just want the $$$.

In theory this kind of enforcement seems just fine and might add a little to safety of the streets.

In practice, I don't know how the cameras work here, but several years back when they were being installed at key spots in Washington, DC (where my brother lived), it seems they would almost always take a picture of you sitting in the intersection waiting for oncoming traffic to clear before making a left turn, which could leave you in the intersection past the light turning red. Sure you could fight them then, but that puts all the time and hassle of fighting on you even when you did nothing except make a safe turn rather than cut in front of traffic while still on a green...

That aspect wasn't too popular, and hopefully they've fixed it somehow.

Peter, That stinks! I think I just missed that one. If you look in the picture on the left I think you can see my car had just gone through the intersection in the right lane.

running a red light only means one thing, you didn't drive fast enough through the yellow :D

sucks...but $50 for a ticket in NYC almost sounds cheap.

it's supposed to be a $90+ fine if u run a red and a cop pulls u over. Just think of it as u got a $40+ discount on a NYC traffic ticket :D

Just run it faster then the camera can catch next time. If you think this is a good idea, then you think that if EZPass catches you getting from one toll to the next too soon they can mail you a speeding ticket. Or the traffic camera's that see you make a lane change without your blinker or speeding can mail you tickets for that too. Its BS

You're not kidding about that. I think they only deliver first class mail 2 days a week. My mailbox is across the road from my house too and no, I don't live on a one way street. I think that's because the old mailvan can only make right hand turns.

Don't complain too much guys. In England, they put speed cameras up on the highways and byways. So you're bopping along a nice country road minding your own business, no one else around, going a bit over the speed limit -- camera snaps your picture with your speed superimposed. Fines over there are big, and you rack up points on their system quickly.

Let's pray that it stays at "red light cameras" only, and that the morality police don't decide to fully automate speeding tickets on the highways. Yeah, it sucks, but it could be a lot worse.
