It all started as a good idea. The bronze guides are used in many racing and hypo motors....Sintered Steel seem to be a better alternative for cars you can drive daily vs a rebuild after each race or racing season.

Hey guys...there's supposed to be a pot of gold OR Ferrari at the end of the rainbow, not an incessant flow of problematic issues :(

Oh well...welcome to reality. In the end, I only know what I've been told. I've heard a few mechanics say the 30k can be done w/o dropping the engine....but I've also heard it's a compromised proceedure. Given what I'm spending/investing in the car (as well as what it is)...I'm going to have the 30k done right when the time comes.

The car I'm looking at has not had it's 30k yet, it'll be due soon. I'm figuring it'll give me the opportunity to oversee, observe and ensure it's done right. Borrowing a page from the book of LawDog, I plan to take pictures and document the service. Along with other great advice from other F-chatters, I'll do the clutch, throw-out bearing, tensioners and anything ANYTHING else that could be an issue.

I'll hopefully have pics soon, until then it's a '99 F1 and in amazing condition having come from a very intense owner. I'm feeling that nervous tension...but this is something I've got to follow.

I cannot agree with not dropping the engine....I think that is 100% not true.

Here is a picture of my engine out with Guisseppe from Maranello...He is able to drop the engine and do the cam swap in 20 hours..(billable for 40 hours book time). Why the hell would someone not want to drop the engine !!!!
