Hey all. A sincere thanks to Mr. tdf360 for accepting my offer to take me on a 15 minute ride in his '04 6-speed for a hundred bucks. He was super nice and answered every one of my questions on everything from insurance and registration costs to torque curves. Not once did I ask for a jack rabbit start, breaking the tires loose, excessive speed, etc. I just wanted to feel the dynamics of the car. I was surprised at how fast it could accelerate as well as how low the final drive ratio is. I believe it could out accelerate my blown/injected, 410HP NSX. Since no one on this list from the San Francisco bay area has offered to give me a short ride in their F1 Modena for a hundred bucks (still scratching my head on that one), I offered Mr. tdf a hundred dollar finders fee to find someone he knew that would give me a ride for a hundred bucks. In other words, I am very serious about making the correct decisions before I purchase. Next month I'll be flying to Los Angeles to rent one of each for a half day, but of course at a much greater expense. Meanwhile, the offer still stands. I can learn much more observing someone driving their own F1 car than I can driving one for the first time.
137 people have read this message so far and not a single offer? Well, I guess if you have a Modena, you don't need a hundred bucks (or are too busy to help out because you're trying to make your Modena payments?). I think I'll go to the service center at Los Gatos Ferrari (or, for the purists, the dealership formerly known as Los Gatos Ferrari) and post a 3 by 5 card on their bulletin board.
I can vouch for Mike (softwaredrone). Good guy who is really interested in doing his homework prior to a 360 purchase. No games going on here. Gary
If I spaced on anyone's offer on a ride, I am horribly sorry! Near the beginning of the year, two people offered who lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the timing wasn't right. Either they were headed out of the country for awhile or I was. Anyway, after returning from a month in Bangkok, I thought it would be more polite to just make a general request again than to be one of those people (you know the type) to say, "Hey, remember when you promised me a ride in your car way back when?", and hoped that the same generous people would be kind enough to offer again. And to the people who have offered but who do not live in the San Francisco Bay Area, a hearty thanks to you again and if I am in your area I would love to meet you and to thank you in person whether I still need a ride at that time or not.
A friend of will probably take you up on that offer with his 360MF1 in Oakland. Let me know if you're interested.
