Well, I am fully expecting that one of you guys on here will get one soon. I'm sure that there are many besides me who are looking forward to your insights on the car.

I wish you the best of luck in your "negotiations." :)

That's for letting me know I'm not in the twilight zone Doody. All these crazy 200-400K supposed selling or asking prices are rediculous.

Shoot Woodhouse an email, perhaps you could get your GT sooner than you thought.

No market expert here, but I've heard the cars aren't exactly flying out of the factory (so they're not flying off the shelves?). If so, be interesting if they can get prod. straightened out by '06, which isn't so far off. If not, maybe we'll have to wait for the Cobra Coupe (or whatever the official handle will be) before we see MSRP. Would be curious what you hear from Bob/Bill at Woodhouse.

Don't tell them your from Texas Doc. We've been kind of bitter since the ass kickings we've been getting in the Big12 lately.

They had a car show at the Viper pit last weekend I think. Wonder if they had one there.

I would imagine that the dealers that have them are tired of the posers (which I'm not saying you are Doc) asking about them.

Did you ask for Bill Pemberton? If not, call and ask him if they checked all of the corn fields for your desired color of GT. Last time I was there they had a building full of Mamba edition Vipers, not quite as expensive as a GT, but they are one Ford/Dodge dealer accustomed to big sticker prices.

The market value of a loaded red GT40 in Austin Texas today has been defined as $226,900.00.

After a week of suffering with the decision and having to drive by the temptress every day, I did bid. But not quite enough. I was third behind a winning bid of $226,900.00. This dealer’s other store is supposed to have one more soon, and I may bid again. I’m very much smitten with the car.

    Thanks for all the advice.

You lucked out once by not having the winning bid. Why push your luck?

in todays exotic car market, 229k is a lot of money.....you could buy a used gallardo,a c6 convert. and a used wrx wagon for the same money....or a used murci and a used m3 coupe..and so on..however if money is no object and you dont mind taking a 100k depreciation hit in 2 years, then go for it, i am sure you have earned the right not to have to wait...after all , we cant take our money with us....

Interesting. Take a look at eBay. Most of these cars are "in stock" with VIN#s.

I may not have to wait as long as I first thought to buy one at MSRP! :)

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Apparently in Houston, one of the dealers I spoke with said they sold theirs for $268K and another dealer said his sold for $280K. Who the hell is paying that much for these? Maybe they're BS'ing me. I look on Ebay and the bids seldom go much higher than $200K. Time will tell.

Have a safe holiday weekend everyone :)

I bought my Viper GTS at Woodhouse and the buying experience was the best I've ever had. The car was shipped to me in Virginia. Woodhouse will likely get the most GTs of any dealership in the country and probably the least likely to screw you on the price. The Ford GT will come down to MSRP soon. I think in about 6-9 months. Just be patient. I really want one and am hoping to get one under list near the end of production, in the Gulf colors if made. Over list for any new car is money burned.

Every time I see something like this, it reminds me of the BMWZ8. People were paying more than twice list to get one. Then the bottom feel out real fast. I know one guy who paid 250k and he could not even get what it listed for 8 months later. I'd be careful, I think the only people who will make money here will be dealers and whoever got one at list for the frist nine months.

I agree, as good as this car is, it will sell at MSRP w/in a yr. It seems that only Ferrari can keep a waitlist going forever.

At the inflection point after a very steep depreciation curve.
