Yahhoooooo! It's here, and it's AWESOME!!!! We haven't had much time driving it yet, and actually almost no time in daylight to take pictures, so pics will have to wait. But I do have a few first impressions after driving it for maybe 50 miles today. First is WOW! Did someone say 540 HP? OMG, that is like, so incredible. It's like FAST, and QUICK, and oh so incredibly comfortable! Superlatives just don't do this car justice. Accelerating from 0 - 60 or 100 is like instantaneous: can't hit the upshift paddle fast enough. 60 to 3-digit speeds is even faster. And that's without even shifting. Drop down a few gears, and hold on nelly. Did I meniton 540 HP? I love 12 cylinders, especially Ferraris, and especially this one. It snarls, it growls, it just makes such cool noises. Quite different from the 456. Much more like the 550/575s. BUt not raucus. Just seriously potent sounding. Haven't done any twisty bits to speak of. going to be doing some of that tomorrow. The F1-A transmission is AMAZING!!! silky smooth shifts most of the time. Often the shifts are so smooth you can't feel them. But put it into Sport, and nail the go pedal, and prepare to feel the seat backs. Acceleration in first is so quick, I've bounced off the rev limiter twice so far. Gotta do some serious learning on the new paradigm of shifting without clutch pedal or stick. Did I say WOW!!!! I am so amazed at how much more car this is over the 456M. Can't wait to spend a few hours really getting to know it better. I think we're going to be very very happy together. Oh man, I gotta do some reading tonight to learn more about this incredible beast. Pics will come tomorrow.
Congrats ! I love the 612 so much. Its a car with soo muchclass and yet an amazing performer. I cant imgaine how cool it is to do a cross country trip in one.
OK, it's hard to actually tear myself out of the car, but we gotta get ready to go out tonight, so instead of getting ready, I'll post a few pics we took in our travels around the city today. I'm still figuring out how to catch the car in the right light to capture the color. This thing goes from looking maroon/burgundy in low light levels, to Candy Apple Red in bright sunshine, with all sorts of shades in between in varying lighting. Here's a few to show what I mean.
That last one's pretty good. But I like the first one with the Space Needle in the background. The car's beautiful. I'm not sure what some people were complaining about.
Very nice, great color! I agree, that last pic in front of the tree could be an official 612 "poster" shot. What a beauty and those WHEELS, oh ya!
Wow! Lookin' good Eric. Great choice in color...I want some interior shots...when you have time...get out and drive for now!!!!
