Had to look twice when I saw this 355 last year at the FOC Brands Hatch track day - I had about 20 calls the next week about making a batch of these - and also a couple of calls about making them for golf clubs!

how are the tyres secured?

From memory there is a cradle that was bolted to the rear part of the deck lid (where the wheels sit into) there must have been a couple of eyes for him to use the straps that you can see in the picture.

Remember seeing a similar pic in an FOC magazine.

 

IIRC Phil from QV told me that the mesh on the underside of the engine cover has been removed in a couple of places to allow a couple of mounts through which are bolted to the top of the rear damper mounts, then the rack slides overthese mounts once the engine cover is closed and bolted in position

 

Prefer not to give out the owners name ,needless to say he is in the Wessex Region and a proper Ferrari driver as you can see lives in Southampton Does not bother about mileage trailers ect just gets on with it

Good idea... but I suspect you have to drive slow to the track, else you might melt the tyres from engine heat!!

 

Nah Ade they'll be nicely warmed through by the time you get to the track - just like those F1 boys do

 

Very clever idea - I've seen it before on a caterham!

you are right about the Caterhams, many owners have a tyre rack that fits on the roll bar as below

 

I can see a market too for attaching child seats!
