One of the major partners in TechArt in the US owns an Enzo -- and a 993 Turbo S.

I think the 997 is hot. Not a fan of the TechArt kit...

...the Tech Art Formula wheels though are PHAT! Adds some nice flava to the 997 and they aren't too expensive. I'm not a kit guy either, keep it subtle but impactful. Nice...

i think that some of the techart kits are a bit over the top, especially the front bumper setup (w/ very prominent brake intake scoops) for the 996tt which makes it look awfully "ricey."

I do think this 997 setup is a bit more tasteful, as it is a bit more restrained..though i do hope the 997tt kit does not follow along the lines of the 996tt kit.

i surely hope the techart guy didn't try to apply any body mods to his Enzo..

ok maybe gt3 is hardcore but turbo is very GT.
i have nothing against the 997, looks way better than 996(except gt3 and turbo), but performance wise it just doesnt cut it. and u pick up one now at list, u lose 30k in 2 yrs.

IMO the 996 and the gt3/tt look identical except for the rear wing. performance-wise no doubt the gt3 and tt is faster. but you
get what you pay for at nearly twice as much over a standard non-s 997.
is it worth it for EC pLAYaS looking for a daily driver to get a gt3/tt?

GT3 is regular 996 with aero plus the wing. I think stock 996 looks like a$$, GT3 is more aggressive, so is turbo.
I think a 997 non-S can hit mid 70's easily with minimal options. which isnt too far from GT3 new at list of 99k. GT3 is like Stradale, its rare, 997 is gonna be a dime a dozen.

what i am really saying is, if i were to drop ~80G on a Porsche for daily driver, it will be used Gt3/Turbo before a new 997 for sure, both from performance or value aspect.

its like the M3, when it first came, **** is HOT-T-T, ppl paying over list, its THE car to get for the normal car guys, but now days it is everywhere. 997 will be just like that.

The 997 "S" actually plays in a similar realm to the 996TT in performance (I just drove both not 2 weeks ago). However the 997 is head and shoulders above the 996 (all of them) in fit and finish and overall refinement. We are talking about a daily driver here right? The 996TT has actually hit a very hard depreciation curve and can now be had at prices that 96-98 Turbos are going for. That tells you a LOT about the 996TT and after driving both of them I would opt for the 997 "S" anyday over a 996TT as a daily driver. I do agree that over time you will start seeing more 997 "S" cars out there, but then again 996TT are quite common as well. Not to mention the fact that I'd personally take a normally aspirated car over a Turbo anyday. The GT3 and GT2 are NOT daily drivers. They will drive you nuts if you plan to use them in that capacity in the Tri-State area.

afterall, what one would pick is all personal preference, that's what to each his own means. however few things would like to point out:

    1) to say 997S actually plays in a similar realm to the 996TT in performance, is like saying F355 is simliar to Stradale in performance. to many ppl neither car is fast enuff, but for cars guys i would think the difference is rather huge.

    2) pcar in general do not hold the value since 996. do you think the 996 holds better than TT? i dont think so. i will bet in 3 yrs the 997S will lose equal or more in % wise compared to a 996TT, we will see.

    3) while GT3 might not be a good daily, the GT2 sure can be one. it's just a turbo with RWD and more boost. i put 6000 miles on the F355 in 5 month, believe me, i can drive anything for daily :D

I agree with you 100% on personal preference, no question about that. I do disagree with you on the 355/Stradale reference though. The new 997 "S" has been clocked at numbers that are very very close to the 996TT. After driving both I would have to agree with that. The 997 has a tremedous amount of torque right off the line and takes off like a bat outta hell. The TT needs to spool up a bit before you get on the power and as a result does not react like the 997. It may be a tic faster overall, but not nearly the difference of a CS vs 355. In my honest opinion, the 996 was a disasterous turn for Porsche. They needed to remain independent and as a result they homoginized the 911 in order to become the most profitable but least exciting sports car company in the world. The Boxster and 996 shared over 70% of their parts and Porsche outsourced EVERYTHING in order to make production as efficent as possible. The result...a cheap feeling uninspired machine. Don't get me wrong, the 996 isn't a "bad" car but it certainly isn't the car that Porsche used to build.

The 997 has them headed in a different direction (let's hope). If you have a chance, go to a dealer and look at them side by side...sit in them, drive them and you will see what I mean. The 997 makes you want to spend time in the cockpit and DRIVE the car. The 996 didn't inspire that and frankly the plastic-like interior made me want to get out and jump in my Audi (awesome interiors).

Finally the GT2 as a daily driver. I have to strongly disagree with you here. The GT2 is a race car, plain and simple. It's aggressively lowered, wears size 315 rubber in the rear and is stark and purpose built for one thing...going fast as heck. If you drive that car daily you WILL need Preparation H before you know it and you will tire of it due to the shear nature of it's purpose. In the Tri-state we all deal with potholes (the season is approaching quickly), uneven pavement, steep driveways, etc etc. The GT2 and other "purpose built" race machines do not weather a daily drive well in this environment. Hey, I would love to drive a GT2 daily (I actually just spoke to Whart about going out in his this morning)...but I know from experience that it isn't a very enjoyable thing to do. Just IMO of course... ;-)
