    Hi,

I'm about to take the plunge and buy my second Ferrari, a 348. Can anyone tell me the best places to look for one (decent dealers etc!)

Should I go to a dealer to get a warranty backup or buy privately?

What should I look for - are there any common problems?

I'm also considering a LHD car. Any thoughts as to any problems with this in the UK?

    Lots of questions!

    Many thanks,

    Mark

No problem with LHD (minor inconvienience at toll booths I suppose).

A lot of independent dealer warranties are pretty rubbish. I only managed to claim about 1,000 on mine. Check that out fully.

Look for one where the owner has spent LOADS of cash on the car already. Look for one with a new recent clutch/tyres/brakes etc etc. Buy from someone who has driven it properly and hard, if thats the way you will drive it. That my best bit of advice :)

Check out ebay, there are a few currently for sale.. Why not buy private? so long as it has had a recent "full Service" belts & clutch? add an inspection and you could do worse.........

Personally I would feel I had gone 2nd best if I went with LHD, but I know of people who buy nothing but LHD, its all down to preference.

As for buying a 348, the dealers other than main dealers that have been recommended on here and in the Ferrari community are Kent High Performance,Talacrest, Verdi, MHT and possibly Nick Cartwight although the latter is supposedly expensive. Warrenties through a specialist tend to be
insurance backed and not really worth the paper they are printed on. I bought my 348 from Dick Lovett with 12 month Formula Ferrari warrenty for peice of mind. If you can, go the main dealer route but you will have to 'pay'

I bought my 348TS from Kent High Performance Centre in April this year and its been fantastic. Had the full belts etc service prior to taking delivery. A pleasure to do business with and Roger certainly knows his stuff and is very passionate and will do anything to help out.....he even organised recovery at silverstone last week for Andy when the RAC didnt turn up (kinda expensive but I understand this was the recovery company's charges and not KHPC)

They have a couple of 348's in at the moment so I would recommend a visit.
