No, i didnt apply... i just play around on my lunch with some ideas... i only have an imac at home... so i am not really set up to handle a full freelance situation right now... but the idea sounds intruiging..... thx for the kind comments... GT
Great, next week let me send you Brian's pic of Jim's cars and also one of the Challenge coming through the corkscrew in high resolution. I will also include some text and let me know if you would want to put something together similar to these you have posted. Thank you, rob
ferriartist - very nice! I would even lose the text at the bottom. keep it simple as tube guy suggests.
BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY COMPUTER BLEW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just wait till " I " add to the " SPECIAL" thread...............
Maybe it's just me, but when I see an ad with bullet-pointed text & numbers my eyes gloss right over it 90% of the time- I'm not entirely convinced that someone is going to visit the site & stay because of what they read on a printed page. You're selling the personality of the site and the intangible feeling of 'cool', 'being in on the secret', etc. You need a hook that'll make even non-computer saavy owners & enthusiasts brave the scary online world to get a glimpse of what they might be missing out on; they are your target market as I'm sure that most people who wanted to find this forum have already done so. Just my $0.02.. -Chris
some changes... added Mr. Stradale's photo as a background... Tried it the other way - the classics in the cursor and Robs 355 as a background - the 355 looked cool but the cursor didnt work as well... new catchline - replacing all bodycopy... i kinda like the sound of it.. but see what some owners think... (anyone with an exact price i would 'preciate it...) if it doesnt show up in the jpeg it says: The only better connection to Ferraris involves a three year waiting list and $176,345.45. GT
ferrariartist, Your original/initial design was best. A perfect illustration of what happens when you have "design by committee".
Thank you! I really like this one actually. Don't waste too much time if you don't want. I haven't had time to sit down and really analyze this. I'll contact you soon.
I know this doesn't reflect well on the intelligence of mankind, but IMO you should have the EXACT url somewhere in the ad (i.e., www.FerrariChat.com and not just FerrariChat.com) -- maybe in yellow somewhere below the $176K number.
I really like the latest artwork. I like the idea about the waiting list, but the number is a bit confusing. Just a suggestion: Become a part of the worldwide Ferrari community. No dealership waiting lists or down payments required
Would not put "cutsie" things in a cavallino ad - keep it simple and get one thought accross, great people sharing information and forming friendships. These folks are not waiting 3 years for a car, they are the ones being called when new models are released.
Im gonna toss an idea or two in here at some point this weekend. Already have them in my head, might need some help from you guys on imagery.
Forza & Cavallino are two different demographics, as already mentioned here... However, think about the different demographics of these two publications... Forza: Forza's on almost every magazine rack in pretty much every bookstore; it's broader and appeals to a broader demographic... Young adults, middle ages, and the vintage dinosaur folks... Look at the ads Forza uses to sell themselves and go off of that vibe... Cavallino: Cavallino isn't so easy to find on the magazine rack and, if you look at the readers Cavallino appeals to, you'll see a certain type of people (demographics are, of course, stereotypes, but there's nothing i can do about that)... Cavallino aims to appeal to folks like Gerald, Wayne, ZJPJ, Old Guy, Sfumato - folks with a deep-rooted interested in vintage Ferraris - complete with serial number - and the history therein. As with Forza, take a look at how Cavallino advertises for their magazine. One example comes to mind (and i'm paraphrasing here): "Excrutiating detail, mind-numbingly endless facts and figures - but exquisite, beautiful, flawless, gorgeous pictures." The eye candy appeals to everyone, but the excrutiating detail and mind-numbingly endless facts and figures appeal to info nuts like Wayne, etcetera... Ergo... For Forza, your ad should be loose; something along the lines of what Tube Guy suggested, with the kind of artwork from FerrariArtist... Don't go into so much detail with this ad, wording-wise... One or two sentences, maybe even just a catchy one-liner, ie "See what you've been missing - www.ferrarichat.com" or something like that... Maybe a blank, white page with a faded image of your racecar in the middle with black text over with one snazzy sentence and the web address; use of space or lack thereof is definitely an eye-catcher... For Cavallino, include some vintage cars in whatever graphics you use - and when you include your car, incorporate the serial number into part of the ad, ie "104504 is the official FerrariChat.com racecar" or whatever... Don't be afraid to include a few more details about the site in this ad, than in the Forza ad... Again, you're trying to appeal to detail-oriented people... Mentioning the specific sections like Vintage, Classic, Modern, Supercar and Race might help, too (Politics & Religion would NOT help you here)... Mention the fact that there are some historians here; this might be a good place for a screen shot of a thread or at least the title of the thread... Above all else, keep the ad neat and clean; don't hesitate to put a few extra bucks into it, if that'll get it to look as professional as possible... ...and now i'll shut up.
...or, Rob, you could go for the reverse psychology angle with the Forza ad; something along the lines of "F_ck off, we don't need any more visitors!" That's sure to get attention...
i'm not so chop-savvy, but maybe someone could run with this idea, for a Cavallino ad; throw the web address (or at least ".com") somewhere on the VIN plate and go from there...
I like the layout... I think it will standout, which is key. I also like the "one-liner" copy approach. And that one line is pretty cute, but I think you might want to try to point out a key selling feature... something to stick in their mind... something that shows a friendly, open attitude...
