OUCH on some of the premiums stated here! My '77 308 costs me $480/Yr with Progressive with a $500 deduct and 300/500 - full coverage with a $35K replacement value. Time to shop for a few of you guys.

Yep... our insurance out here is pretty ridiculous... they've recently started to legislate some laws to help stop the insurance companies from gouging customers.

Boots, I think the way you posted the question just sounded a little obnoxious. Typically a post like this would start with "Hey I pay a certain amount for my insurance and I'm wondering what others pay because I think I'm getting ripped off.." or "Hey, I was thinking of getting a Ferrari but I'm not sure I can afford the insurance, can you guys help?" Your post came off more like "Hey, what do you rich guys pay to insure those F cars?"

As for me, I have a '77 308 GTB and I have it insured as a "collectible". I agree not to drive it more than 5,000 miles a year and not to commute to work in it. I pay $170 per year. My 2000 Toyota Celica costs me $700.

Another factor is HOW you have it insured. Companies like Hagerty, with all the hoops, have great premiums but very restricted driving. Full coverage for a commuting Ferrari (you DO all drive to work in them, right? ;>) ) will be 10x times that at least.

Me? 45 year old, married male in nice neighborhood. 1972 Lotus Europa, top condition. "Cheap" car with high costs for body damage due to thin fiberglass and body construction. The car will be totaled in even a minor impact. Not a commuter but I am allowed to drive the car for any purpose "occasionally", even to work. Antique IL plates that no one seems to care about as far as restrictions go. Full coverage, agreed value, no deductable, $188 a year. We have all our insurance now with Farmers. I used to have Hagerty; nothing but good things to say about them, but the restrictions are severe.

BTW, my 1974 Accord is a LOT more, but worth a bit less. Go figure.
