i have been looking for a 355 for months and i think i have found the one ppi was fine only that the scuttle by the wipers is starting to bubble and in the corners its worse (starting to flake)but not that visual when the lid is shut.this would mean screen out to do the job properly ,also the doors (only the black bits by the mirrors rusty ,can they be removed to clean them up and re-paint? ,also i have looked underneath the car by the radiators and theres rust (not heavy)on the bits of floor pan around the rads. i sold my mint 94 20kmiles 348 to look for a cheep95 lhd 40kmiles 355 that i can use all the time i was expecting ropey but not rusty but i would rather have a poor 355 than a mint 348 has anyone else had rust like this ???? the rest of the car is in good-fair shape the car has good history good dash, seats ,tires, but 2 wheels are marked, engine needs detailing ,belts need doing and the RUST!! 40kmiles 95 355 private sale 37k..... to high?
I must say, I've never heard of rust like this on a 355... maybe others have. Rust worries me because without inspection, it is difficult to know how advanced it is underneath, as I found out to my cost with a Jag E type! Also, given the year and the mileage, valve guide failure is highly likely- check that its been sorted, or do an engine leak-down test as part of an inspection. Difficult to price- my gut feeling is that it is perhaps a little expensive. I'd recommend getting it inspected by an expert, and using any discoveries to know the price down. Good luck, Robert.
Sounds like the car was driven year round in the snow/salted roads, a real daily driver. Depends what you want the car for, if it were to keep I would not want a car with rust, the little you see has tons all over you can't, but if you just want something to drive and thrash for a year or 2 I wouldn't see a problem with it, but keep in mind it may be hard to sell and you may take an even further hit.
