    Does anyone know if a shift gate is being marketed for the 308 that incorporates a reverse/1st gear "lockout", similar to the challenge cars? The purpose is to prevent accidental downshifting into 1st or reverse. The units that I have seen contain a plate that flips over the base shift gate.

    The 308 takes a noticible effort DOWN on the shifter, to go into reverse.

    IMO, this takes the place of the reverse 'lock out' tab.......

    If not lubricated, the shift lever can stick down when someone puts it into reverse. It does not pop up as it should but this does not impact shifting other than it will go into reverse without having to be pushed down. A few drops of oil will cure this.

    On my old car when I bought it, the PO had installed the gate reversed on purpose or accident. I am not sure. That had the lockout tab on the 5th gear side rather then the R side. It did not affect shifting into 5th but it allowed access to R without pushing down.on the stick.

    The primary function is to prevent downshifting into 1st. Blocking off reverse is only a by product of design. The shift gate feature that I am looking for would normally be used only at the track.
