My airbag warning sticker on the right front dash is trying to come off... a good thing since I want if off, same for the visor stickers. They're affixed to leather. What is the absolute foolproof method of removing the residual stickum without doing any damage to the leather? Also, how do you achieve a smooth short shift with the F1 tranny? Is there a sweet spot in the rpm range? I find that the car sort of momentarily lurches forward as if I've abruptly lifted the gas when I'm shortshifting. My takeoffs are fine, but unless I'm shifting up in the 5k+ range, my shifts aren't at all smooth, esp when in Race mode.

    "Goo Gone" works for me.

Don't lift. It will shift fine. (True)

I use Goo Gone as well....they put one of those orange 'Abandoned Vehicle' on my window yesterday.......

Geez, I'm glad someone watches these things.........

I fired it up, did a few donuts in the parking lot and moved it over one space.....LOL!

I've got some of that, but since it's an oily base, won't it stain the leather?

Second vote for Goo Gone. Also, I have had good luck with a microfiber towel and elbow grease (or just my fingertip). Once the sticker is off, use your fingertip to stroke (no jokes) the adhesive toward the center. Typically 1/8 to 1/4" strokes work. It will ball up on itself (this sounds like it need to be in Off Topic) and can be picked off. Goo Gone leaves a slight residue/discoloration on the leather (which a little leather cleaner either took off or blended in).

On a new car, my vote has been for "get the dealer to do it" :) The guys at FoNE were great in this regard, they just did it for me using whatever products they liked and gave me a great mark. Esp hard on the alcantara on the CS dash, wasn't a job I fancied screwing up myself. Of course they didn't charge me for this.

The sticker I left on was the "Death or serious injury could result" one. Cracks me up that one ...

Oh year and a second vote for "don't lift". Essentially its about keeping you foot in the throttle when you change gear, lifting or adding thottle will give you lurches. Its quite possible to short shift smoothly in race mode as well as regular mode.

Steve... i don't about the car you have - although, i would assume it's the same principle - but with the NNO, the quickest shifts come when the gas pedal is fully depressed and revs are over five grand... :)

As far as removing the adhesive residue, 3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover works great. And it's safe on leather. I use it to remove scuffs from my and I used it on my sticker too. Just rub gently.

I'll add another vote for Goo Gone - it's what I used on mine (Alcantara). It worked great without any staining or residue.

Dan, Im surprised FoNE would do it for you. It is (literally) a federal offense for a dealer to remove the warning stickers.

Steve, short shifting is one of my complaints also. Full throttle above 5k is great on the open road, but doesn't work too well trundling around town. For in town driving, I've found it best to shift at very low rpm (2-3k).

You used it on Alcantara???? No problems?

I would think anything with a surface not smooth would get stained big time. Where did you use it?

Another way is to use tape to remove the adhesive. In the same way when you let duct tape stick to itself it is nearly impossible to pull it back apart, the adhesive is more attracted to itself than to the leather of the visor. I used some pretty sticky packing tape (because I did not have any red neck repair kit - duct tape). Just wrapped it around my hand sticky sde out and blotted the visor on my F430. It came right out of the suede.
